  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Look, NHE, I'm glad you're an atheist like me, but please, give it a break a bit. You seem to be taking it a bit too far by becoming ANTI-theist.

Remember there are actually people out there who are truly Christians who get a lot of value out of their religion.

If you want to lampoon them you might want to dial it back a bit.

Like you I'm an atheist, but I don't really think this behavior of being anti-theist is helpful.

Hope you understand.
Thank you for the succinct example of blatant dishonesty.

The thread still isn't about me.

You don't get it? Really? I was doing to you EXACTLY what you do to just about everyone else!

Do you really not understand?????

If you ARE really a Christian then surely you will know Luke 6:31

This is ridiculous. You are a piece of work.
Hint: If you simply say what you mean ... you won't end up nearly so frustrated in discussions. Just sayin ...

I said exactly what I mean a BILLION TIMES and you dodged every single one of 'em.

I called you out for what I think you are. [DELETED].

Finally I used YOUR TRICK ON YOU and you [DELETED].

[DELETED]

Luke 6:31 [DELETED].

Or better yet make sure to establish your [DELETED] Cred by spouting some other [DELETED] passage.

By dodged, you mean I didn't agree with you.

No, you asked for evidence. I provided it and you then had the gall to say that all those people said the opposite of what they meant.

Funny how EVERYONE you mischaracterize is not saying what they mean. But apparently YOU are telling them what they meant all along.

Even when they subsequently disagree with you.

I know you by the fruit you bear.

Now, you're just fabricating stuff.

BTW, have you heard that the global warming scientists stuck in thick ice down in Antarctica were rescued?

Frozen Out: 98% of Stories Ignore That Ice-bound Ship Was On Global Warming Mission | NewsBusters

Imagine that. 98% of news stories covering the event failed to mention the reason for the ship being there. How's that for accurate and thorough reporting?

What does it matter? Frankly I don't know if I believe that figure simply because the FIRST THING I heard about it was the mission.

But even so, who cares? It's not like global warming wasn't to some extent the CAUSE of the events.

I mean if you actually READ THESE THREADS ABOUT THIS you'd know that this is in keeping with what we know about global climate change in the Antarctic:

1. Ozone depletion causing stratospheric cooling which changes wind patterns (and the winds are what drove the ice out to go around the stranded ship....just as science explained to you several years ago).

2. Massive land ice melting and ice loss in parts of Antarctica causing influx of fresh water into the Southern Ocean altering the mixing characteristics of the Southern Ocean.

Seems to me if someone is savvy about anthropogenic global climate change they could have inferred all this.

But it should come as kind of a "COMFORT" for our local "skeptics" because it kept people from thinking about the REASON the ship was likely trapped in the sea ice....which, again, appears to be due in no small part to human impacts on the atmosphere.

So it's win-win for the people who don't even begin to know the science and are scared of the science.

Thanks for the link, which contained this:
Chris Turney, the expedition’s leader, is a professor of climate change at the University of South Wales. According to Turney’s personal website, the purpose of the expedition is to “discover and communicate the environmental changes taking place in the south.”
Presumably, they're now all experts on the matter of expanding sea ice in Antarctica.

I doubt that. More like doubling down on their theories and trying to prove them. They will not give up; they will not be deterred. :preach:

I've been hearing that the reason for the ship being there was to recreate Australian explorer Douglas Mawson's 1911 to 1913 voyage to Antarctica.
NEWS UPDATE (25 December 2013): Just now the Akademik Shokalskiy is apparently stuck in ice part-way through her Australasian Antarctic Expedition towards Mawson's Hut at Cape Denison. link

Looks like attempts to free the ship have been abandoned ... and all passengers have been airlifted off the stranded ship.

One wonders if the penguins are mocking the researchers.

Helicopter rescue mission to Akademik Shokalaskiy has taken all passengers to safety on Aurora Australis | News.com.au
Passengers were flown to the Australian ship in groups of 12 by a helicopter from a Chinese icebreaker.

The Akademik Shokalsky has been stuck in ice since December 24 100 nautical miles east of the French base Dumont d'Urville, with several icebreaking attempts failing to reach it.

Look at all the devastation caused by global warmin!

The two are not mutually exclusive: Frozen Out: 98% of Stories Ignore That Ice-bound Ship Was On Global Warming Mission | NewsBusters
According to Fox News, Turney admitted “we’re stuck in our own experiment.” They reported on Dec. 30, that a statement from the Australasian Antarctic Expedition said, “Sea ice is disappearing due to climate change, but here ice is building up

He must have gotten bile in his throat to have to admit that. I imagine they were shocked to see so much ice when it was supposed to have disappeared. :sorry:

I see, global warming caused thick ice that stranded the ship, that didn't take long.

Wasn't it noted some time ago that while sea ice around the north pole was disappearing it was increasing at the south pole? If so this event should be no surprise.
