Global strata maps?

I have been looking for global strata maps online and striking out.

The maps I've seen are from a book, Field Studies in Catastrophic Geology.

I'd like to find other sources that show the extent of various layers. The maps in this book are fascinating and show the extent of the layers over large regions. The maps I have found online concentrate on local regions and particular noted strata.

Why not just post the names of some of the "large layers" in the book? We can Google from there, or even rummage through some of the geology literature.

I will. I'm ashamed to admit that the blasted book is packed away in one of the boxes in my home recording studio. I've been going through the boxes to find it -- and I will -- but its taking longer than I want.

I've been surprised at how hard it has been to find these online. I would expect them for every geology 101 class. oh well.

You might try doing some research on sedimentary basin analysis, then, which is a huge subfield of geology. Lots of resources available. I knew a few basin analysts back at Carleton University in Ottawa that you could try contacting.
