  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I hate glasses. I wore them as a kid and then since like 17 have been wearing contacts. Then found out I was wearing them too much and now have to wear glasses in the evenings to give my eyes a break. I hope I get used to them because I HATE them. They never fit right and they feel strange and did I mention that they never seem to fit right??? At least they look better on me than when I was younger....but still!!!!:(

I hate the bloody things. They're in the way, they don't warm up or chill with the rest of my body... ugh. Cold metal on my face when I'm shivering in winter, hot metal on my face when I'm sweating in summer. And it's so easy to get something on the lenses and then OF COURSE my eyes fixate on said smears, or smudges, or crap.

I hate them.

But I can't get contacts in. I can't suppress the 'OH CRAP STUFF IN MY EYES' reflex.

I share your pain.

I feel for people who hate their glasses. I imagine that in the near future, contacts and lasik and all that will make traditional glasses obsolete.

Personally, I love a guy who wears glasses. I think it makes them look bookish and adorable.

I look good in glasses and feel like I don't look like me without them on. I hated wearing them when I was a teenager, though, and often refused to.

For those that hate them, I'd look into corrective eye surgery. I hear the prices aren't too bad--at least in my state.

corrective surgery isn't available for all eye conditions from what i understand.

i don't hate my glasses, but maybe i'm weird :sorry: but my eyesight has been really strange the last few years, it used to be so bad i would have to wear them all the time and then somehow my vision improved so now i only wear them when i've been reading too much and my eyes are starting to hurt

I don't hate my glasses, either. Maybe that's because I don't wear them everyday though. (I just don't need to :sorry: ) I find myself attractive both with glasses and without - style and fit are EVERYTHING. I have tried the contacts thing and it just won't work for me. On occasion, I suffered from vertigo, which was quite unpleasant. I may try again in the future (in colors, no less), but for now, I don't have a problem with putting on glasses now and again.

As far as fittings go, I do relate to that. It's just a matter of getting the correct fitting though. When you choose your glasses, the person working with you will make sure that it fits you well. If not, go back and see if they can make some adjustments. They should be more than happy to do so for free. :)

I love my glasses!!

I did not need glasses until I was 21, when I was getting horrible, head-splitting headaches every day and I didn't know why. It turns out that my eyes were tired of working overtime. I'd needed glasses for years, but never had a clue. The first time I put them on, everything was so clear. I can't believe I didn't know I needed them. Then again... all I'd ever known was fuzziness, so... yeah.

I prefer having glasses. I think I look much better with them on.

I feel separation anxiety without my glasses.. really vulnerable and insecure.

Me, too.

I lost my glasses a few weeks ago and I had to go out in public. I had a panic attack. I didn't realise how naked and vulnerable I feel without them. It was weird. I was like "Gwen, they're just glasses." Hmm.

I hate my glasses too.. I got them when I was a sophmore in high school.. then wore them for quite a few years.. then I got VERY sick of them during college.. so I stopped wearing them. Then started getting back into them, and accidently broke the frames, so I gave up on them again for another year.. then just got contacts about 6 months ago.

I love contacts. :D

They can fix nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

It worked for me!

For those in the U.S. if it's more than 7% of your income, it's also a tax write-off.

hmmm... i've never considered hating my glasses for my appearence... because to me my glasses allow me to see clearly...which is so so important. I have no idea how i'd cope without them! Its a shame cause glasses cover my eyes which I really believe are my best feature.

Last time I asked about contacts - which was about 3 years ago (so i know things are most likely different now) I got told that I couldn't get disposible contacts for an astigmatism as they need to be made specifically for each eye and be weighted so that they don't spin... I decided that it was much cheaper to stick with glasses... Too much money to try a pair (after they've been specially made) and decide that I hated them.

I think I look good in glasses, but I only need them to protect my eyes from the sun. Too bad there don't seem to be as many flattering frame styles for sunglasses. It's hard to find a pair that really suits my face.
