What kind of reception do former SDA-CARMITES get here when they first come in and post on the main board? What about in the TRAD area, or """"Bible Study"""" areas? I've been here for thousands of posts and I just got reported for an honest mistake in posting in the sacred TRAD area. How would an evil CARMite be received for making the same post? My skin is thick enough to handle the SDA ridicule. And yours is certainly thick enough to handle open and honest discussion on CARM.

Red, I was there when you came charging in. I remember it well. You were not there to openly and honestly discuss, but to paste large volumes of material without much follow-up. It took a long time for anyone to get responses from you that involved actual discussion on a 'discussion board'. It wasn't the most graceful entrance.

I came in as I did on all the other forums and adjusted in a few days to the discussions. But they were basically, 'oh it looks like you follow the prophet', end of discusion and the slicing and dicing followed. Not much brotherly love to speak of...

You know I like you, red. CARM is about discussing the actual issues openly and honestly. It's very different from here. So if you were expecting a 'touchy feely' forum you were in the wrong place. CF-SDA forums are more about that than CARM. Here, if a poster doesn't 'feel good' about a response, they report it. Or if someone crosses the boundary into another SDA area they are reported. This place is rule/law focussed, CARM is issue/truth focussed. That's why your initial time there wasn't very pleasant for you. You went in there with a CF mentality, and it's a different place where ideas are actually challenged and tested with Scripture (at least to a larger degree). It's NOT CF.

Why can't you see the effect your words have on me and my self-esteem?

I'm not a proponent of much focus on 'self-esteem'. Self-worth? Definitely (where one draws their value/worth from). Self-esteem is all about how one FEELS about themself. There are times when a person SHOULDN'T feel good about themself (i.e., cheats on their spouse, steals a car, drinks and drives, throws their wife down a set of stairs, kills the neighbor's dog, burns the neighbor's house down, etc.). A person who draws their value from Jesus Christ and realizes they are a citizen of heaven now, that God HIMSELF lives IN them, that their ONLY source of righteousness is identity in Christ alone (or rather Him IN us), that God created them to be ambassadors for him and that all is accomplished through the perfection of Christ, that 'apart from Christ we can do NOTHING', that...you get the picture. Feeling good about ouselves is way overrated (especially since the Bible makes it CLEAR that NO ONE is good, not even ONE!). But drawing value is a good thing when the value is realized in holy sovereign God. We are called to a higher standard of living (not materialism) than the law allows. The Pharisees followed the law to the letter, and even Paul said NO ONE could accuse him of ANY fault as far as the law was concerned. Yet our righteousness MUST EXCEED that of the Pharisees or we won't find ourselves in God's kingdom. Jesus truly is our ONLY answer.

Do you catch this or is there a veil covering the truth of Jesus Christ from your eyes and heart? I'm sincerely asking...

If Ellen White is against God and rejects Christ and leads us to evil, then all of her writings and books and all the beliefs and doctrines which come from them are wrong and must be destroyed as they send believers to Satans path of destruction and keep them from eternal life. But if they are Christ centered and lead us to Him, then you are fighting against the divine....

Red, I think Ellen White's writings are a "mixed" bag.

There ARE some kernels of truth in them but there are serious errors as well. One glaring error is her statement in "Desire of Ages", that Y'shua could have chosen to sin and could have chosen to rebel against G-d. This almost cannot be construed as a denial of Y'shua's divinity.

In chapter 28 of the Great Controvery she sets parameters for passing the IJ which are so stringent it is basicaly IMPOSSIBLE which led me to nearly giving up on G-d and becoming an atheist, I so despaired for my salvation.

There is good in Ellen's writings but there are also things that do harm IHMO.

I totally agree Lebesgue. However, Red, like MVA and all the other Trads, only see this issue in black and white/all or nothing, period. For the rest of us, the EGW issue is a lot more complex than that.

When you fall in love with all your heart and mind, you dont need to keep after sin and temptation, you turn and follow the one you love, Christ, who we must go to with the faith and trust as little children ........

Lebesgue is not a troll. He is just one of the many people from CARM we have had an influx of lately.

There must be a thread over there connecting CF to CARM that has made the CARM residents aware of our existence. Since many of the CARM regulars are formers, that is what we are getting. I believe Adventtruth, Diana and JohnT are also from CARM.

Red, I love Y'shua with ALL MY HEART and want to follow Him, but I'm still gonna "get my feet dirty" (as my Rabbi likes to call it) at times as I am human and it can't be helped. I'm NOT G-d like Y'shua is and I am NOT perfect and sinless and WILL NOT be UNTIL that day when I am in Heaven. Y'shua has done for me what I CANNOT do for myself, no matter how much I want to.
