  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am kinda new. I would really love to get started with some creative writing, but I have never been great at it. I have actually never really tried. But the more and more I think about it the more I want to get started. The problem is I have no idea where to begin. So if anybody has and suggestions that would be great!!:)

Well normally I would just get on the computer, open up Word, and write whatever comes to me... that's actually almost how I created one of my best series (which I am in the works of rewriting in a book form :D because as I reread it some of the things I wrote is just too corny, lol). So, you could definitely try that approach.

But another thing I do, an idea just pops into my head and I write it down in case I ever want to use it. Right now, I'm focusing on about three different books (and I have over 50 ideas for other stories  ). I even get some ideas from television shows, but I just use that idea for my basis, and I twist it to become my own.

Another thing. What do you like to write? Sci-fi? Fantasy? Reality fiction? What's your genre? I'm more of a science fiction writer than anything else.

If ya need anymore questions, go on an' ask!:)

The other thing that works well for me is "Write what you know". There is only so far you can go making up a story that involves things you know nothing about. I have read many many stories and I can tell the difference between somebody who knows the subject matter, somebody who studied it and somebody who has no clue what they are talking about.

First thing you should do is create a character. Then see what kind of ideas you get from that. And then just write what happens to that character. Make it interesting. Or don't. It's up to you. You'll learn the more you do it.
