Getting permissions to use songs.

Been busy doing that today.
Songs from private composers in other parts of the country that have never been officially published or are not listed on CCLI.

Any song not covered by CCLI license used by a congregation should have a written permission slip on file and the note "Used by Permission" on all overheads, printouts and computer files.

Anyone else ever done that?

If it's not covered by CCLI then who cares? Most of the time these artists are making their music, lead sheets, and sheet music publicly available. They are produced in order to be used in public worship. So the permission is implicit.

We should care because technically it is against the law, and there is always one or 2 people that WILL prosecute.
