What happens to believers when they die? Do you believe they immediately go to heaven or are “asleep” until judgment day?
The book say in Ecclesiastes 9: 4 For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. 5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. But before Solomon Moses says in Genesis 3: 18 thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; 19 in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

According to the Bible, Israel the Hebrews always had the word of God, not Catholics. Paul says in Romans 3: 1 What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? 2 Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God. At this point no one have eternal Salvation, but Jesus. Jesus is the only one who died and was raise from the dead. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15: 20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
Valletta was referring to the New Testament, not overall gospel message.

Yes, the Jewish TaNak still existed.

I’m currently a Catholic who has been toying with the ideaof returning to a NonDenom church nearby. What I want to know is this…..Catholics believe in Purgatory, ND don’t. Protestants say Catholics can’t get to Heaven without works, Catholics say the opposite. What does one need to get to Heaven as a Protestant and as a Catholic?
A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 20 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’[a]”

I’m remaining Catholic. I wrote that post a long time ago.

Getting to heaven is really a poor way of putting what God is offering humanity and it is the same no matter what kind of label you attach to yourself.

God is offering the free gift Eternal Life (The Life of God) and the only way a person can receive The Life of God (Eternal Life) is to believe in Jesus. Believing that Jesus is who He says He is, Which is The promised Messiah / Son of God, the resurrection and the life.

When a person believes this about Jesus they become a permanent born again child of God. The person, at the very moment of belief in Jesus, crosses over from death to life never to cross back over from life to death.

So people can play the denomination/church game or they can believe in Jesus for God's free gift of Eternal Life. Sadly many are playing the the denomination/church game and not believing in Jesus for God's free gift of Eternal Life.
Excellent answer.

A man asked Jesus this very question, "...What good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?", and Jesus replied, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. (Matthew 19:16-19).

This was a direct answer to a direct question, which all of us will do well to take heed to. Anybody can claim to have faith, but actions speak louder than words. Faith and works go together and you can't have one without the other. "Here is the patience of the saints; here are they that keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus" (Revelation 14:12).

Pre Cross.. and a death sentence. No one enters Eternal Life by keeping the Commandments, and He well knew that.
