Good goal "to get healthier". "To get healthier" is my goal as well... often people are like "I want to lose 50 lbs!" or whatever but really to get healthier should be everyone's goal...

I started drinking water and will tell you it has definitely made a difference.
I've cut back significantly on drinking pop--never realized how MUCH I really did drink. My mom never had pop in the house and then my stepdad kept buying it, and then I got... well... TOO MUCH.

The food at my school isn't great either. But last year I lived away from home in university residence and it was brutal!!!

Have a good breakfast and eat healthy when you're at home, try new foods if needed. I hated trying new things, especially new food and this year I have new friends and I have tried a lot of new food. Guess what? I liked ALL of the new things I tried, then I found out what they WERE. Try to keep an open mind.

Washed raw vegetablesare my favorite snack food.
Granola bars and fruit breakfast bars.
Good old pb&j on wheat bread is great because it does not need refrigeration for a couple hours.
Bottled water, 100% fruit juice or low-fat milk if it is available.

The way I decide is: If there is nothing good in it for you, I avoid it. Soda pop sure was tasty but I gave it up years ago for water.
