  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Getting Cold Feet.

This fall I'm going to start college (community), majoring in psychology. Thing is, the more I think about it, the more I'm beginning to wonder if I'm cut out into that feild of study. Yes, I know that one's major can change and it doesn't assign one to a career. But if I don't have psychology, what else is there? I took a year off to think about what I wanted to do, and now that I've found something I could be interested in, I'm having second thoughts. This thread was just to put my feelings into words, but and advice or opinions would be appreciated.

One thing that'd great (at my school, at least - I'm guessing other colleges do it to) is that when you get here you're assigned an advisor who you can talk through your wants and interests with who can help give you direction. Look through a college catalog at the major options - what appeals? Make lists of what you're good at, passionate about, and what you love. Think and pray about it, and ask some good friends what they think. A lot of freshmen at my school are still undeclared, and most upperclassmen I know have changed their majors more than once! Take your time and don't rush, and you'll find what's right for you.

here are a couple ideas that might help:
1. take a career search class and figure out some of your interests that way.
2. another way is to work on getting your general education done, when you see something that could be interesting take a class in it.

My advice would be just to go there and take some general eds (and psychology) and then you'll discover what kind of courses you enjoy and dislike.

The prereq for pyche is probably the first one so take that and a few gen eds. Also, there may be a pyche club- so you could find others in your major and decide maybe if you really like it. My friend is almost finished and wants to change, lol. More like narrow her major down. There are lots of things you could do. Talk to your advisor about what types of jobs you might be able to get with this degree. How far in education do you need to go? Are you required to get a masters? just some thoughts...
