  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm surprised they haven't already did this with you... I guess it depends on the ob.... same with me, when I got checked I was a little dilated... but it didn't make a different..... didn't go into labor early or anything. It's still fun though to know and to hope.

My mid-wife has asked if I wanted to but I had said no in the past. But I think I will tomorrow just to see. I'm already anxious so it won't make a difference. :) I just know she said that some women bleed & stuff and I didn't really wanna go through that.

Like everyone said - it makes no difference. With my last baby I got checked 3 days before the due date and was at 1.5cm. I thought I was in labor 4 days later and was at 3cm. I stayed at 3cm until my next prenatal appointment a week later. That night I went into labor. With my second I was at 3cm on his due date and had him the next day. So basically whether you're dilated or not means absolutely nothing as to when you'll actually go in to labor!

I went ahead & got checked & was about to fly off the table. My mid-wife said she is diffentely getting ready & if she had to say I was -1. She stopped because I was in pain. And at first I was kinda scared, as was she, of her position so she got out the U/S but she is head down thank goodness. So now onto the tricks of the trade to go into labor! :)

The only surefire trick is the crappy one of just waiting for baby to be ready. :sorry:

It's so crazy that the last 2 weeks of pregnancy seem to take 20 years. LOL! I always think that the end is so hard and so miserable to put you in a place where you are actually grateful to go into labor :)

Not usually...it's usually done just with a gloved finger or two, though sometime a speculum (sp?) is used.

LOL! At the end I always wake up so dissappointed each morning that I didn't go into labor over night....lol! of course my last two were both born during the day, so that disappointemnt was kind of ill placed...but it was a "Ughhh..another day with no baby yet....hurumph"

I thought that too but she used something and man I was thinking a hand may be a lot more umm comfy as uncomfy as it to begin with. She didn't explain anything of what she was gonna do. Kinda nerve racking.

And yes I'm at that stage right now for sure!
