I should have been a geologist. It brings together chemistry, Earth and climbing around nature immersed in the beauty of it all.

I love the idea that the Earth is billions of years old and so much has shifted and taken place in that time.
Lately I am into knowing more about unconformities. We see them all the time when driving though rocks that have been carved out for roads.
Layer upon layer. How small we are

One could say, geology is a type of science that totally rocks.

I like geology also. Having an Earth that is billions of years old makes me appreciate how infinite God is, and how a tiny sliver of Earth's 4.54 billion year history is dedicated to Jesus saving His followers. :)

Vast and beautiful yet also terrifying, the handiwork of God.
Have you seen this Nova series?

You still can be! You don't have to have a degree in geology to learn all about it and appreciate God's wonders. Even though I have many years of college, some of the things I know best come from self-study. Geology is very fascinating and is a science where you can use your imagination. There are many geological questions that are still looking for creative answers. Have fun. :)

Yeah, @Akita Suggagaki can still be a geologist. In fact, there are websites that sell geology supplies.

Find a nearby geology place, and get cracking some rocks open. :)
Near the Ozarks. Breathtaking stuff! Ever been to Eureka Springs, Ark? It is even said to be haunted. Some of the spring locations do feel Kind of strange.

I've never been to Arkansas, but the Crater of Diamonds sounds like a great place to explore. (I like the idea of "finders keepers" too.) I wonder what it is about the geology of that area that creates so many gem stones?

I have not been to Arkansas, except in ~2013 at the Crystal Bridges Museum of Modern Art. :)

Sounds eerie though. Wisconsin is where I live, so Arkansas is far away.
