Hello Bible studyers,

I tried to decifer the Genesis order of creation. I must have read through it 100 times. Lo and behold a pattern emerged! It seems like something to me, but everybody has their blind spots. I wonder if I can be sown some additions to or critisizms of these ideas?

On the 1st day God created Heaven(space?) and Earth. Then on day two he divided Waters. On day 3 God made plants. Plants grow out of earth using water into the air towards the Fire of the Sun of Genesis day 4. So this shows the lifecycle of the 1st lifeform on this planet which is "plants."
On day 5 and 6 God created fish, birds, animals and mankind. None of these could have existed before the creation of Plants. Only plants can survive on earth and water alone. Animal bodies need biological material to cosume for nutrition. Plants are biological material made out of elemental material isn't it? So the Genesis order of creation shows a pattern of each days creation built upon the previous orders.

But what was really amazing about this pattern is how it copies the colors of Noah's rainbow. Earth is purple, Water is blue, Air(the plants that produce it) are green, The Fire of the sun is Yellow. Then on day 5 the Orange blooded fish and birds are created. On day 6 red-blooded animals and man are created. So this is the rainbow color spectrum! So maybe thats why God said to Noah that the rainbow is " the token of the covenant ...with every living creature." Gen.9;10 The colors of the rainbow therefore signify the order of the elements up to Mankind who is in the "image of God". Gen.1;27 Thats pretty simple if it's true! dan b

Wrestling with the order in genesis does cause problems, so I can understand that you read it through 100 times looking for order. The order simply doesn't match either what science has found or simple common sense.

The Bible says the earth (Gen 1:1) was created before the stars (1:16). Day and night (1:3) were created before the sun (1:14). Plants (1:11) were made before the sun (1:14).

Furthermore, birds and whales (1:21) were created before reptiles and insects (1:24). Not to mention that everything in this creation was originally herbivorous (1:30).

Then you go over to Genesis 2:18-19 and find that man was created BEFORE the other animals. Gen 1:27 says man and women were created simultaneously, but Gen 2:18-22 says Man was first, then Animals, then Woman (from a man's rib, no less. Since when does an omnipotent being need genetic material to clone something it made from dirt in the first place?).

It seems best to see this text as symbolic - then there is no question about why the order is not correct. The rainbow idea is a good to remember how the story goes, but not to remember any literal order and I would lean against seeing it as a divine repetition, because it seems a bit forced. Like, why would earth be purple (I can see green, brown or blue more easily), or why air green - wouldn't blue be better, since plants only contribute to a small fraction of the air? Similarly, the sun is white - it only looks yellow near the horizon due to scattering, and fish blood is a red as ours.

Here in the theistic evolution subforum, there is no need to force a literal genesis onto the finidings of science - for that, one can look in the creationism forum. However, that is a fun little memory device, and if it helps you remember the holy scriptures, then great.

Day 6 - The most mentally advanced human being requires all the oower and more basic orders of physical, emotion and mental speculation in order to attain his full consciusness.

Day 5 - Fish and Fowl require heat to ferment biological material for their digestion.

Day 4 - Fire requires vegetation for fuel

Day 3 - Vegetation requires earth, water, and air to grow

Day 2 - Water needs earth to stableize it and hold

Day 1 - Earth/matter is the first requirerment for physical manifestation and composition. So god created earth first.

When we really examine the physical world with the aid of the bible it is acctually quite simple. The best descrioption I've seen. dan b

Light was created on the first day, so the issue with photosynthesis which is required to sustain plant life is possible given God could provide enough photons from this initial light, prior to the sun.

That's why my origins theology is - God did it!

Day 7 - Day of Rest - Pension

Day 6 - Animals/Mankind - Red - thought - brain

Day 5 - Fish/Birds - orange - emotions - eyebrows

Day 4 - FIRE - yellow - sight - eyes

Day 3 - AIR(plants) - green - hear/smell - ears/nose

Day 2 - WATER - blue - taste - mouth

Day 1 - EARTH - purple - touch - hands(genatils)

The Genesis creations of each day match the colors of the rainbow and also correspond to the 5 human bodily senses as they rise up the human body. The hands are at the bottom to touch with. The mouth is next up to taste with. On Genesis day 3 two things were created, dry land and plants. So at the 3d using air God gave us two senses, nose and ears and put them at the same level. Then higher still come the eyes, the eyebrows and at the top the brain. So we are designed as the rainbow! Miracle! dan b

The thing is, I take the creation account in the Bible to be poetic and possibly not literal. If you compare Genesis 1 to Genesis 2, things are not even in the same order.
I think the point of Genesis was not to tell us an exact, scientific, or 24-hour day account of how God created us. It tells us that God is great and that He created everything, and everything He created was good.

Also, why would the days be 24-hour days, if the Earth hadn't been created yet? And, the Bible tells us that a day can be like a thousand years to God.

I think that God may have indeed used (and created) evolution to create us. But the thing is, this isn't the point of Christianity. We do not need to know or guess how God created everything; that is not necessary for salvation. We can speculate all we want, but won't know for sure, and hopefully after this life, we will find out ("for now we see as through a glass darkly, but one day will see clearly" -Paul).

The Bible is not a scientific textbook. It tells us about how great and mighty God is, and his good creation.

No. The physical senses do not "rise up the human body". They all are received and interpreted in the brain, in distinct location that neuroanatomy has known for some time now.

I believe in the Bible and in Jesus Christ. Thats why I don't relate to it being interpreted foolishly. Just like children soon outgrow their belief in ghosts and monsters, so to we adults can see thorough the symbolical fantastic language and easily see the allegories of the bible. Other wise it's dumb.

The five human senses are touch represented by hands(genitals) in the middle of the body, then the mouth for taste is higher up and so forth. The senses do go upwards on the body.

Angels are thoughts in heaven the mind. The 6 creation days of God are followed by us humans creating European Christian Israel over 6000 years. There is nothing supernatural or monster like on this earth and never will be. Only Us and Jesus and God. The Serpent/devil/satan is selfishness and meaness in human beings. I'm a Christian and a realist. Thanks for the post. dan b

Ok, really I suppose I should clear this up.

EMOTIONAL ACTIVITY ..of....ANIMALS;

No, it isn't. Cellular respiration does not include any combustion reactions. it is almost entirely glycolysis, and the Krebb's cycle. There are a lot of dehydration reactions and hydrolysis. There is never any "fire".

.........is
BIOLOGICAL MATERIAL............................BIOLOGICAL MATERIAL
..............................................................which constitutes
...........................................AIR

No, biological material is made up of organic molecules, which are mostly carbon along with nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, sodium, potassium, calcium atoms and traces of things like phosphorus and sulfur.

' .....using.......PLANTS
...................................................................create
......................................................................to
..........................................WATER

Ironically, this is actually correct. H2O is a waste product in cellular respiration.

...for...water solution
....................................................................using
.................................................................dissolved
......................................................................is
...................................................................EARTH

And this part isn't even comprehensible.

.......................CONVERSION OF BASIC ELEMENTS.........................
..........................................into..............................................
.......................CONSCIOUSNESS AND UNDERSTANDING.
...................................(GENESIS CHAPTER ONE)

No, actually, consciousness is derived from the firing of neurons, not cellular respiration.

No. The somatosensory system is in the brain. And it occurs in the Parietal lobe.

then the mouth for taste is higher up and so forth. The senses do go upwards on the body.

No, actually all of the senses are represented equally throughout the body, the mouth is ironically even more innervated with mechanoreceptors then the genitals, and the senses are all integrated in the brain.

Angels are thoughts in heaven the mind.

Cognitive Psychology disagrees with you.

So now you're incorporating Gaia into Genesis 1?

Earth is not purple.

Birds and fish do not have orange blood.

You left out indigo.

And finally, the "seven colours" of the rainbow is a highly subjective scale imposed purely because our eyes cannot resolve the colours to any greater degree at that distance. Sunlight is roughly a white light source, but is actually composed of a much larger range of measurable colours, as this picture shows.

Noah's rainbow is visible to the naked eye for all good people to see. Good people are farmers. Bad people are polluters. The six colors form a circle that is interlocked. I suppose God made it this way to show his majesty. If you want to see diagrams and explanations of this see chapters 1 and 2 in the website THE SECOND BOOK OF DANIEL

Second book of Daniel?

I think that's an insult to the original Daniel.

So I see Daniel II also doesn't explain what happened to indigo, or know that fish and birds don't have orange blood.

And frankly I facepalm'd and gave up when I saw the four elements being discussed. I thought it was meant to be symbolic at first, but when he actually claimed everything was made up of the four elements my IQ dropped several points.

Hello Bible studyers,

Then on day 5 the Orange blooded fish and birds are created. On day 6 red-blooded animals and man are created. So this is the rainbow color spectrum!

That is an ingenious pattern you have seen. It is a tribute to the ability of humans to find patterns. Others have shown you some of the problems with this.

If you want to see a pattern, I suggest you go read the Enuma Elish, the Babylonian creation story. Genesis is taking all the gods in that story -- in the order they appear -- and making them creations of God. This deprives them of god status.

For instance, in the Enuma Elish the first 2 gods are Apsu and Tiamet -- the gods of saltwater and sweetwater. They have sex and their offspring is earth (also a god). Genesis 1 starts out by separating "the waters" into the waters below (saltwater in the oceans) and the waters above (freshwater or sweetwater of rain). There goes Apsu and Tiamet as gods. Then God gathers all the waters below so that dry land --earth -- appears.

Ever wonder why plants are created before the sun? Well, now we are into the 3rd generation of Babylonian gods and the chief god -- and eldest child -- is Marduk. God of plants. His younger sister is the sun goddess. So Genesis 1 has God create "herbs" first, thus knocking Marduk out of godhood, and then later the sun, knocking the sun goddess off.

Genesis 1 is a (magnificent) essay for monotheism and a refutation of the Babylonian pantheon. It's pattern is following the chronological order of the appearance of gods in the Enuma Elish.
