On another news group the following thread was posted. Let me know what you think.

the real reason the bible isn't perfect? The terrible fables about people being turned to salt, and sheep in the wilderness, and snakes talking. it gets good during that vampire and night of the living dead parts. and revelations would make a pretty cool sci-fi movie. WAIT THEY DID it was called Left Behind! Kirk Cameron is a dreamboat! *sigh*

i was also offended when i read the bible, and it said Lot offered up his daughters to be gang-raped instead of the angels. that was pretty sick.

I looked up what I think you are referring too but it does not say what you think. Show me the passage and than I will agree if you are right. But I doubt you understood it.

take care

"Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don't do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof." (Genesis 19:8)
and what do they want to do? play uno? perhaps spin the bottle? yeah. right.

I thought you were referring to (Genesis 19:8). Read the whole story. Lots daughters did not get used by the men. Because Lot tried to protect the strangers he brought into is house he and his family was saved from destruction. Lot being human did what he thought was right to protect the 2 he brought into the house.
I guess he used his own logic and rational thinking. But in the end it worked out for him.

What does everyone think of the verse Genesis 19:8.

"Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof." KJV

Give your opinions

The way I see it is that these 2 men were angels from God right.  Well Lot being a very religious man, and likened by God so much that he saved only him and his two daughters from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorah probably had to love the Lord an awful lot and have a good relationship w/ him.  For back in Genesis 18:32 God said that if he could find just 10 righteous downsized considerably from 50 righteous in Genesis 18:24 that he would spare Sodom and Gomorah from destruction.

That is how bad in sin the people of Sodom and Gomorah were.  Not even 10 righteous! :(   But the way I see it is that when the men of the town came to seek out who the 2 angels were.  What do you do?  Send out your two daughters who may or may not have been sinners...but also your blood.  Or 2 angels from God?...the one whom you serve and worship.  Personally I think he was definitely trying to protect the 2 angels sent to him by God...by offering to send his 2 daughters out.

Now did Lot know that the angels were going to kick everybody's butt and save him?  I don't think he did...or else he woulda just stood there and said hey look you 2 angels do something and save my family.  But he didn't do that.  Maybe God wanted to just test him and see what he was going to do about it before he had his angels save his family.  And in the end it worked out for Lot as he and his 2 daughters were saved that night and also form the total destruction of Sodom and Gomorah.

But yeah that's what I think about it all...so Peace Out!
