Wasn't Gehenna a place in Jerusalem where all the garbage, and corpses were burnt. Didn't Christ foretell the destruction of Jerusalem etc?

Isn't Gehenna also eternal hell?

BTW, what is "Sheol", dreamless sleep?

historically yes, it was where all the garbage went, and I it was the spot of pagan sacrifice. basically, quite the yucky place to go.

yep, because that is where all the garbage (sin) will be burnt eternally in the fire of the presence of God.

Sheol is the place of the dead. not hell yet, but a place of darkness where one cannot sing alleluia. it was where all the dead, righteous and unrighteous, went before Christ's Resurrection, and now it is the place where the unrepentant sinners go before the Final Judgment, where they are receiving a foretaste of what will happen when Christ returns.
