Well, we're talking about California here, in the 2022-23 school year, 53% of California students failed to meet the English Language Arts standard on the CAASPP test, and an estimated 28% of adults struggle with basic English literacy.
Sounds like a problem across the entire USA. Maybe there should be something that tackled education across the whole nation... Maybe a department or something. Oh, right...
Trust me, it's a California problem. It ranks 47th in the nation when it comes to basic literacy, with 28% of all adults in the state being considered illiterate--which is second only to New Mexico (another state dominated by democrats).
The 79% literacy rate is among the whole US population. It's not a one state issue or a partisan issue, even though you keep wanting to make it one.
Y'know, it seems odd to me that the same people who praise Trump for "owning the libs" now complain about Newsom (or whomever) doing the exact same thing to MAGA. Almost sounds like a double standard, huh?

Um, there is no "lib" party. The Democratic party, though, is still together, even though some have voiced disagreement with the direction of the party. Nothing new there, though, Democrats have often voiced disagreement with the direction of the party.

That's usually the case in politics. Heck, the GOP hasn't listened to a reasonable person since Trump got on board.
I didn't think either one of them would have been my first choice, but that's how our system works, and has worked for generations. But there was nothing undemocratic about the previous election; Vice President Harris still faced the voters in the general election, which is more than can be said for former President Gerald Ford.
Well, with a bit less than half the electorate, anyway. And that support seems to be waning....not that it matters, though, since Trump can't run for office again. I just wish someone would tell him that, he seems unclear on the concept. Then again, he often seems unclear on many issues involving the Constitution.
