Have some of you seen the new garbage that has come out on broadcast television recently?

life as we know it This show is nothing but an adolescent sex fest. Unbelievable! I watched the first few minutes of it and couldn't believe it.

Desperate Housewives Oh, here's a good one. Wives who gossip, cheat, backstab, and have affairs. Just what we wanted on TV.

Boston Legal The "wonderfull" off-shoot of The Practice, this legal show starring James Spader and William Shatner is nothing but a psychotic inside look at work politics and sex.



Does anyone watch this gargage? Amazing.

Kids TV - The Wiggles, Teletubbies, Barney the Dinosaur and The Wombles are EVIL!!

News shows - blood and guts road accidents, and showing poor old souls in Iraq having their heads lopped off by Islamic fundy terrorists.

As one site says: Combat media violence: KILL YOUR TV!

Maybe one day when the world has had enough of the bread and circuses, we'll all go back to sharing our news stories around the good old campfires.

No, I can actually say I do not watch that gargage. Around where I live, they're going to start an "all-GLBT" (or is it GBLT, GTLB, GTBL, DUMB?) station. For all those people who like to see that thing celebrated as normal and mainstream. Right, well, that's one major piece of trash I see coming our way. Strangely enough, too, I've noticed much more sensuality on the B.E.T. station than other music video / entertainment stations. Not that I sit on my behind on watch it all day. I'm a college student: I have no time for T.V.!

Excuse me? I am not fat, bored, cretinous, OR a housewife, and I watch "Days of Our Lives. Also, what the heck does American Idol hoave to do with Catholicism? It's a just a bounch of young singers trying to make it in the entertainment industry.

Our family watches very little broadcast tv in prime time. Sorry, but it is almost all garbage anymore. What will we watch tonight?

You're absolutely right. I didn't advocate forcing them off the air. What I merely wanted to do is bring to light the latest wave of trash TV so people can see the continued filth that passes for entertainment.

i find shows like the bachelor to be icky. here's a guy with a "harem" of women and he fooling around with all of them. yuck.

Lol...your examples are funny. I hardly think American Idol or The Wiggles need to be catagorized as "garbage." If it's not what you like, that's fine...but celebrating blatant sex or sexuality actually qualifies as trash...not English men that sing and dance for kids.

I actually like Boston Legal...I hated the Practice...but BL can be entertaining. I almost puked last night during the bar scene, though...how "romantic."

As for reality TV...it's everywhere! The only shows I am really into is Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and The Amazing Race. That's great television!!!

I don't watch that much network tv anymore but, I like FATHER OF THE PRIDE AND its not meant for kids anyway.

TV is not inherently evil, it is just an efficient medium for wordly messages. TV makes it easier for sinful ideas to reach more people, just like it could be used to reach more for the Gospel (which unfortunately probably doesn't happen often). There are lots of books that are garbage, but you do not have to read them. Same with TV. If you do not like the shows, don't watch. It's called self-control. If you wish to avoid the temptation altogether, quit watching TV. Obviously easier said then done, but with God all things are possible. I would love to reach that point myself someday.

My biggest beef with TV is commercials. I can't watch much TV at all, or even listen to the radio, because I am constantly bombarded by people telling me how incomplete I am until I purchase this product. Advertising may seem harmless, but this generation of mass commercialization is making Western culture into the most soulless, materialistic generation on the planet. Only God can make you complete!
