I would like to know people's ideas on games which Christians shouldn't play. I've got 9 year old brother in-law, who beged me for a copy of GTA III, but after seeing the topic on the TV what you can do with that game (raping!!!), I will get rid of mine in the next couple days, as soon as I can get home and turn on that computer.
But, anyway. May be there are some other games I should think twice before giving my credit card to cashier. I really would like to know your oppinion.

Thanks everybody for particepation.

This post is NOT official or anything like that. It's my personal opinion so don't get upset. :)

I personally believe that you shouldn't play anything you're not old enough for. The ratings are there for a reason-heed them. :)

Aside from that, it's all about what you personally feel convicted against. There are some games that I would never play because I am disgusted by them or I find them unacceptable-but it's an individual decision to be made on a case-by-case basis.

Too many people want an easy way out, a "banned books list," something they can look at and think "if I'm not playing this, I must be all right with God and man." However, everyone has their own convictions, their own weaknesses. For example, with someone who's obsessive, a simple puzzle game with no offensive content at all could cause them to neglect important things in life-however, for someone else, that same game is innocent fun.

I really didn't find Blood 1/2 worth continuing. I felt very uncomfortable with it, although not so with other first person shooters. Hexen also got a little warped.
Many games start fine, but get into some heavy occultic themes and open up the mind to these themes. I think uses Paul's words of rather filling your mind with what is good and pure. Dont go open yourself to things that you dont need to.
But I really enjoy strategy games like Age of Empires; Red Alert; Rise of Naions etc.

Any game you'd feel uncomfortable if Jesus was sitting right next to you play. Hmm.. That includes about any of them that have guns, blood, violence, death. (I don't think Jesus would find it fun to run around with a rocket launcher blasting bad guys to nothing) Yeah it's a pretty extreme stance, but we have a God who is pretty firm about the dangers of sin.

A good way to filter out the good from the bad is to ask yourself “Would Jesus play this game?”. Today many games are wound up in the occult as well as extreme hedonistic philosophies; they are more so an indoctrination tool for such things wound up in an amusement.

Sure it’s ‘just a game’ but the bible is ‘just a book’ in that sense as well. We read our bibles and the information is input for our minds. Games are in the same respect input for our minds. As the information of the game environment is constantly introduced into out minds it is digested and learned on a deeper level in our consciousness.

Is it wrong to play a military style game with lots of shooting? If that were the case then it would be wrong to be a soldier. Is it wrong to play a Witch or Sorcerer in a game? Well it’s just a game, right? If the game had real depth how well could you imitate the witch in real life after playing the game for many hours? How many children/adults play a witch in a game and then join a group of witches in real life? You know being a Witch is very popular these days.

How did these people learn about the existence of Witchcraft? Well yes most games are not exactly perfectly accurate to the mechanics of being a true Witch, but it’s a step in that direction. Not everyone is indoctrinated into it but they are so much more knowledgeable of how to practice it and maybe more acceptable of it being around in their daily life raising no real alarm of it but being neutralized themselves towards it. This of course does not only pertain to Witchcraft but occult practices in general.

As for playing games in general, yes they can take up a lot of time but that does not make them wrong. I personally spend a lot of time playing computer games (mostly mmorpg’s) but I don’t watch TV or many movies at all (TV + Movies = bad)). It’s all about time management. I’m also into computer programming and development so really this takes up more time than anything so I don’t get to play games as much as I want to.

I am in law enforcement and I enjoy First Person Shooters such as Ghost Recon, and Rainbow Six series...if it has a bit of blood so be it....its simulating war....in war there is blood...do I recommend it to those who play it just because of the blood and graphic gore....no....do I recommend it to those who have a knack for war sims....and understand the meaning of wars yes....

Max Payne is an absolute no-no. It has everything that is possibly bad in life all rolled up into one package.

Violence: this game has all the blood and gore you do not want to see. Plus you can slow the fun down and watch. It is bad. Blasting people with a shotgun in slow-mo.

Drugs: A major center point of this game is a drug ring. In the story, you are basically tracking down painkiller to stay healthy as well.

The Occult: You are immersed in Satanity as part of the storyline for this game as well. The further you get into it the more macabre it gets.

Do not touch this game with a ten foot pole. I have no intention of playing Max Payne 2 either. It is simply a horrible game and a bad influence.
