can anyone recommend some games that would be suitable for youth group? non violent preferably. we have a computer lab at the church and was thinking maybe we could do some network games with them.

i would prefer games that don't need separate serial numbers to play networked, as buying 6 copies of the games is a bit expensive.

any suggestions greatly appreciated

Rome: Total War is a great strategy game to play with friends, battles don't need to last forever either as you have limited units to use - you're not constantly building more units are farming, mining etc like in many RTS games.

NFSU2 is quite cool, and can be pretty competitive for groups. I wish they'll bring out a normal NFS soon with ferraris, lambos etc... cars I'm never going to be able to afford (well not until I'm old :p)

First person shooters will always be violent, but are still fun. But it depends on the group whether you want to include these games.

Any of the Age of Empires Games.

The concept is war but there is really no blood and gore violence.
StarCraft or (if your Church is OK with it) any mildly violent FPS like MoH or Call of Duty or Star Wars Battlefront.

Also your choice also depends on how new your machines are.

Agreed. All new games that come out now require ATI 9600 +, 512+ DDR Ram, over 1 gb of space, and +2500 AMD or better. I have +1800 AMD XP, 200 GB Hard Drive, 512 DDR RAM, ATI 9600, and MSI mobo. Half life 2 still runs bad. So saaaad :(

So you need a game that you can install on six computers? Well you don't want to be installing one CD onto six computers since I'm sure the license does not allow that in most cases.

I was searching last night for something that fits what you need but nothing really came up. I searched for free Windows games that you can play over a closed LAN, there are plenty LAN games for Linux but I don't think you were looking for Linux games.

I think your best bet would be to look for older games that you could pick up for about $5 a copy or so. I know Best Buy and Target always has a ton of games like that in stock. You can always make up a list of what they have there and ask your LAN party which games they would like the most.

err oh sorry m8, or what ever large retail stores in your neighborhood that carry older games for cheap.
