I guess I am getting one for my b-day, which is in Feb!
So I was wondering some things:
1. What are some good games? I have some on my list already, what do you recommend?

2. Do you need memory cards, or can u save games in other methods?

3. How is the controller? I have seen the controllers and they look like a jet fighters dashboard!!! aka too many buttons. Is it easy to adapt to a gamecube controller?

4. Does gamecube have multi-taps?

5. Why are the discs so small? lol

Thanks! :D

1. Need For Speed Underground/Underground 2
Zelda: Wind Waker
Final Fatasey: Chrystal Choronicals
and the list goes on....

2. Yes you need memory Cards, but for $30.00 you can get one with 1050 memory blocks and thats all youll ever need, I guarintee it!

3. To me the controler is very easy to use, its a tad bit different then a PS2 but, I find it farly easy to use, I have no problemes with it.

4. Yes it does have mutli-taps, but its kinda rare to see a game with it, and there are very few online games due to nintendos lack of servers.

5. I'm not sure why there so small, but I know there called mini discs and they hold as much data or more data then a PS2 or Xbox disc....

1. What are some good games? I have some on my list already, what do you recommend?

Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
Super Smash Bros. Melee (If you play with a bunch of friends)
Resident Evil (There's a couple of games on the GC, but they're kind of an acquired taste. You may want to rent first)

There's several other games out now that jump to mind as well. Thing do to is just rent a lot of games and see what you like.

2. Do you need memory cards, or can u save games in other methods?

Yes, you need memory cards. They come in more than one size too as far as memory goes. Just pick the one you think would work best for you. I have the smaller size and I've yet to fill it all the way up. Some need several of the bigger ones. It just depends.

3. How is the controller? I have seen the controllers and they look like a jet fighters dashboard!!! aka too many buttons. Is it easy to adapt to a gamecube controller?

I found the look of it to be more daunting than the actual playing with it. It's comfortable and easy to reach the buttons even for a small-handed person like myself. However I would have made the d-pad a bit bigger. Maybe the size of a normal directional pad on the older Nintendo controllers.

4. Does gamecube have multi-taps?

Well... I'm not 100% sure what that means, but I assume it's to do with allowing you to play with more than 1 person? It has 4 ports normally, but I don't know if there's something that will allow you to play with more than that or not.

5. Why are the discs so small? lol

To cut down on piracy.

No prob. :)

Cool! So many replies! Thanks everybody. I guess the memory card thing; I must be thinking of the x-box where u dont need the card.

As for games I am looking forward to getting/playing:
Resident Evil 4, and 0
Metroid games
Kirby's something or other
The 7 Sonic games (awsome!!!)
All the Zelda games, including the N64 ones.
Donkey Conga
Probably a lot others that I haven't seen yet.

Good Games:
X-Men Legends
Disney Extreme Skate Adventure
Spongebob SquarePants:Battle for Bikini Bottom
Resident Evil
Memory Cards:Yes,you need them to save games.
Controllers:My hand is like the size of the one that you get with the gamecube. There are bigger ones than that and there are mini controllers.I have a big one for adults,a black one that is mine, and a spider-man controller that is my brother`s.They come in different colors and designs. They are very comfortable.
Multi-Taps:Not Sure.
Discs:It is because they hold more data than a PS2 disc or an XBOX disc.
More info:They come in three colors. That is black, silver, and blue-purple.I have a black one and I think that is the best color. They also have wireless controllers. They are very cool. They also have extension cords to make the cords for the controllers longer. If you have a portable dvd player, then you can play it on that. You can buy a game boy advance player and hook it to the bottom. You get to play your game boy games on the gamecube. If you where to pick to get a XBOX after the gamecube, don`t.The XBOX has all the same games that the gamecube has except for a few.
Game Info:X-Men Legends takes up 26 blocks on a memory card.Pokemon:Colusseum takes up 49 blocks on a memory card.Disney Extreme Skate Adventure takes up 11 blocks on the memory card.Spongebob:Battle For Bikini Bottom takes up about 29 blocks on a memory card.
Good Thing about Animal Crossing:If you buy this game, then you get a free memory card. When you get bored of it and want to sell it,keep the memory card.Erase the animal crossing data and you can save your other games on it.I did that for my X-Men game.I got bored of Animal Crossing.

The Disks are small to stop piracy

The controllers are great once you get the hang of it

They do need a memory card, you can get small ones, but some big games use up more memory than what the cards hold so your better off getting a medium or large one.

The unit has 4 controller ports, i havent seen any multi taps for them though so im not sure if there is any around. i would suggest not.

NFS underground 2 is very good. Mario Party 6 is out soon to and is a great multiplayer game. Mario kart double dask is a bit old but still a very good game.
Ill check what else is coming out soon and let you know.

 Zelda Wind Waker, all the back Zeldas except the game boy ones
I love them, but they are very hard for me, especially the earliest games.
Mario Sunshine, i love Mario but it is even harder than Zelda for me.
Spongebob, Battle for Bikini Bottom, hard but fun
Luigis Mansion, i just started it , and i know how to suck up a ghost so far. (without manuals and guides, they are all way over my head)
Do you have to know how to play the first Final Fantasies in order to play the last one.
Is Metroid and Final Fantasy mostly fighting. Are there any adventure games like Zelda and that dont have to learn a lot of fighting moves.Thank you for this information. I love my Game Cube. :sorry:  Rosieace :crosseo:

No, it's not required. Most of them are stand-alone with exception of FFX and X-2. The only Final Fantasy game for the Gamecube so far is Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. I have yet to play that one, however.

The Metroid Prime games, while requring a bit of shooting, aren't as wildly-paced as most First Person Shooter games. Enough so to warrant their being called "First Person Adventure" Basically, they're sort of like Zelda, but in first-person perspective, and using a gun instead of a sword on alien attackers rather than fantasy monsters.

Another game that is sort of like the Zelda games on Gamecube is Star Fox Adventures.
