all the best games were on super nintendo etc (all the older consoles) everything else is just a clone with different characters, graphics etc
...ookkkk..

That is a really retarded philosphy. On SNES, did you have FPS? RTS? Tell me, what SNES or other older console game has a game like Halo? Or TA?

I think GT4, San Andreas, Halo 2, Madden 05 (and eventually 06) will be the big winners of 05. Here's my reasoning:

GT4 will return the racing title to where it belongs. Polyphony has invested so much time and energy into making the most complete racing package ever for any system and it'll be hard to top. Ontop of over 500 cars to choose from, online play, and an already stalwart and loyal following of gamers from all sides of consoles, Gran Turismo 4 will be a hard title to beat in this genre. I believe that, initially, it will sell like hotcakes, die down a bit after the new year, and resume a high paced selling mark. You can only play games like NFS:U2, Juiced, and SRS for so long before the tired street racing wannabe scene becomes dull and practically transparent. GT4 will be one of the biggest PS2 sellers of this current generation of gaming.

San Andreas: 'nuff said. I don't really want to play it but as much as I hate to admit it, people live off this stuff.

Halo 2: Microsoft's prized coin, like Windows, will be polished, tried, banged up, and beaten down until there is nothing left. At least, you won't have to worry about the fatal blue screen (wouldn't surprise me if Bungie added a bug like that). Expect this one to sell all year long.

Madden 05: Not even a month since release and its sold nearly 2.5 million units, probably the best selling one to date. And football season has just started. Just wait until the rabid fans get a load of the super bowl and then want revenge on their team's nemesis over and over again. With Madden 06 already on the horizon, 05 will be picked up quickly and dropped off again for 06.

Some notables:

Forza Motorsports: Microsoft's second attempt at capturing the flag from Sony for "best racer". Argueably, the graphics are better with Forza but its a hard buy, especially how clean and sharp GT4 looks. But, with real cars and real time tuning, you can expect that Microsoft will do what it can to make this one a real winner. Expect a lot of online downloadable content.

FFXII: Final Fantasy just doesn't have the luster that it used to. But FFXII is reported to be a refreshing step toward something new, something different, something grander. With many playable characters, a host of returning characters (namesakes at least) and other new inventions from the masterminds at Squenix, this game will sell pretty well.

Kingdom Hearts II: I don't have to say much about this. Disney + Squaresoft + Enix + mega bucks = 2005 sleeper of the year.

Killzone: The latest 2004 fps entry from Sony will undoubtly be a refreshing step into maximizing the power of the PS2. This will be what Halo would've been like if released for the PS2.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Despite the popular support for this game, I don't think it will sell nearly as well as 2 or even the first one did. But, it will be a well recieved game.
