Yes, it was mid August and so hot outside you could fry an egg on the concrete. I ended up in hospital that day with pneumonia.

Yes, I can still remember the house. There was no electricity out that far. There was a well that you had to send a bucket down and pull it back up by hand. The outhouse was out back, but after the bear episode we drove to the nearest town (2 hour drive) and bought a portable toilet that we could dump when there were no bears. We managed to live there for a whole two weeks then mom had meltdown trying to deal with two bedwetters and a baby under those conditions.
Our next house at least had an indoor hand pump for water and electricity. Still had the outhouse out back but less bears.
