I agree Asaph, Jim has shown a side to his growth that we should all check for in ourselves.
Andry, I believe you have the right point in this matter. The quote "What Would Jesus Do" applies in any area we are uncertain about. And I think that when we walk with the Spirit we get a check if we are about to do something that contradicts life.
I know that every now and again I will see a scratchie and think "Hmm, $25,000 a year for life - sounds pretty good." And I will go to buy one, but it never feels right, so it then becomes my choice to go against His desire for me or to remain at peace with Him.
Yet, sometimes I see a good charity running a raffle, and I have no problem getting a couple of tickets. Jesus rarely checks me on those things. (Never the raffles that give grog, or stuff like that as pressies though!)
I personally find, that anything that is not good for me - that doesn't speak 'life' - kind of gives out warning signals.
