Hello folks. Let us not wager on the Bible, but instead, focus on truth. Also, gambling in general is a bit taboo in the Bible, as stated below.

Date
May 26, 2024 | Never Gamble on Scripture
Verse
2 Timothy 2:14 (NIV): "Keep reminding God’s people of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen."

Proverbs 22:26 (NIV): "Do not be one who shakes hands in pledge or puts up security for debts."

Matthew 5:34 (NIV): "But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne."

1 Corinthians 2:13 (NIV): "This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words."
Explanation
2 Timothy 2:14, is a reminder from the apostle Paul to Timothy to keep reminding the people of God about important biblical truths. Paul warns against quarreling about words, which he considers to be of no value and only ruins those who listen. This passage emphasizes the importance of focusing on the essential truths of the faith rather than getting bogged down in semantic debates or arguments over words.

Proverbs 22:26, is a warning against making financial pledges or putting up security for debts. This verse does not directly relate to discussions about semantics or biblical truths. Instead, it is a practical advice about wise money management.
Matthew 5:34, is Jesus' teaching about swearing oaths. He advises against swearing by heaven or any other creation, as God is the ultimate source of all things, including the heavens. Instead, Jesus teaches that Christians should let their "yes" be "yes" and their "no" be "no," avoiding the need for oaths altogether.
1 Corinthians 2:13, emphasizes the importance of speaking the truths of the faith in words taught by the Holy Spirit. Paul contrasts this with human wisdom and encourages the Corinthians to focus on spiritual realities rather than debating semantics.
Societal Relevance
While the Bible does not explicitly condemn gambling in all forms, some forms of gambling can be considered a sin or vice, particularly when they lead to financial ruin, addiction, or harm to others. As Christians, we are called to be good stewards of our resources and to avoid behaviors that harm ourselves or others. If gambling becomes an addiction or causes financial hardship, it is important to seek help and to avoid engaging in that behavior. Additionally, it is important to consider the ethical implications of gambling, such as the potential for exploitation or harm to vulnerable populations. Ultimately, as Christians, we should strive to live lives that honor God and seek to do good in the world.
Five strategies to avoid betting on scriptural truth:
  1. Focus on the essential truths of the faith: Instead of getting bogged down in semantic debates or arguments over words, focus on the essential truths of the Christian faith as revealed in the Bible.
  2. Seek understanding through prayer and study: Pray for wisdom and understanding of the Scriptures, and study them diligently to gain a solid foundation in the faith.
  3. Engage in respectful dialogue: When discussing scriptural truths with others, engage in respectful dialogue and seek to understand their perspective while being open to learning from them.
  4. Avoid debates that are not productive: Recognize when a debate is not productive and focus instead on building up the body of Christ and sharing the love of Christ with others.
  5. Seek guidance from spiritual leaders: Consult with spiritual leaders, such as pastors or spiritual directors, for guidance and wisdom in understanding scriptural truths.
Five strategies to avoid gambling in general:
  1. Avoid situations that tempt you to gamble: Identify the situations or triggers that tempt you to gamble and take steps to avoid them.
  2. Set boundaries: Establish clear boundaries around your use of money and avoid engaging in activities that could lead to financial ruin or addiction.
  3. Seek support: Reach out to trusted friends or family members for support and accountability in avoiding gambling.
  4. Engage in alternative activities: Find healthy alternatives to gambling, such as hobbies or activities that do not involve risking money.
  5. Seek professional help: If gambling has become an addiction or is causing significant harm to your life, seek professional help from a counselor or support group.

If I am wrong, quote my words and contradict them. I would be happy to learn something new :)
Well, this is what was discussed about six weeks ago. This made me feel uncomfortable. Yes, these are hypothetical wagers, but swearing an oath on the veracity of scripture or our interpretations of the Bible does not sit well with me, or the anonymized person which you responded to.

Wagering on Bible truth, whether in real money or hypothetically goes against the verses in this devotional, which are from God in the Bible.

I do, and from the writings, this appears to be wagering on the Bible.
Please quote my words of this appearance. I will clarify. If you have any questions about my writing, please ask.

Well, here are the words. Just trying to help you sir. God wants us to follow His teachings, and taking wagers is not one of them. The Bible is not a mathematical game.

Did I say it was? You need to stop overgeneralizing.

The quoted words mention wagers and betting on specific propositions, not on the Bible. It is a betting on the strength of your belief. You overgeneralized. Please read my sentences precisely and do not overgeneralize.

It is not a game. It is a real bet. Take the bet, and you will find out how real it is.

Stop overgeneralizing. I don't have time for this.

Bro, I do not have time to make bets also. I believe in the Bible as truth, 100% truth. Betting on propositions for scripture is unbiblical man.
