  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Yeah, there's no rule - some women gain during their 1st trimester (especially if eating helps relieve your nausea) and some actually lose weight because of all the morning sickness. As long as you are *trying* to eat healthy, taking vitamins, and listening to your body, I think that's what counts.

I wouldn't worry about it. I gained 10 lbs and then lost 2-3 my first trimester..gained them because I was simply eating better and more often and then lost some due to morning sickness.

Eat the best you can if you are having morning sickness, drink LOTS of water and don't worry about the numbers.

Everything I've read and been told says you should try not to gain more than 5 pounds in the first trimester but after that you should be gaining a pound per week I believe which I don't think I have done. I gained about 5 in the first and then maybe a couple more now, but I'm kind of staying at a steady weight right now not gaining not losing. It's different for different people and different body types.

Don't worry to much about it, unless you are already overweight then most likely your doctor will tell you to be careful with weight gain.

The books are talking "averages". It's impossible for every woman to gain the exact amount the books say in the specific trimester and month they say. Everyone is different.

With my first 2 I gained 10 lbs the second I got pregnant. With my next 4, I gained slower, but ended up gaining more altogether. With my last 3, I hardly gained any weight at all. All my babies were totally healthy weights when born.

So it's not just what each individual woman's body does with weight gain, it's also what the baby needs, and the specific circumstances with each pregnancy.

All that said, don't stress over weight gain (or the lack thereof) if you're eating properly and drinking plenty of water.

I lost 11 in the first trimester.. and in the 2nd gained all that back plus 1 or 2. I'm nearing my 3rd trimester now, so we'll see.. but it should all be gaining from here on out I'm sure. Being as I'm overweight and was so sick with morning sickness my doc wasn't too worried about the loss in the beginning.
