  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Your education office is the place where you should go. They will have the answers. The Vet Admin is the group that deals with the GI Bill, but your education office should be well versed in GI Bill issues. If you are still in, Tuition Assistance is a huge benefit. I'd go for that before using the GI Bill, if you can, since TA is only limited to $9400 per year and has no limit on money. The GI Bill has a very definite limit on money. If memory serves me, it is around $36000 to $38000 (a little over $1,000/ month for 3 years).

The VA. will help you get the D.A forms you need, just be ready to prove you have so many credit hours of courses per week.

Unless you opted for the $50,000 for college, or whatever program that was, if you will be going to school you can get you MGIB money. Non-Navy-related money that you receive (scholarships, grants, etc) don't matter. If you're a veteran that wasn't somehow disqualified (certain discharges or whatever), then you're qualified. But don't take our word for it here. Ask the guys in charge of that stuff.

Yes, you can receive financial aid while also getting your GI Bill. However, your financial aid office will count your GI Bill AGAINST you. Meaning, they count it as income so you will get less on the Pell Grant and any other grant/scholarship program they have available.

To me, that blows because someone who never served will get more grant money than a Vet.
