meh- Just got back from the wife seeing the dentist- need 6 teeth on the bottom pulled and a whole new bottom denture to be installed. The dog has to be "taken for a drag" as she's neurotic and is frightened of everything and we're doing what we can to bring her back- first time I've ever had a dog that didn't know "how to dog". Wife's going to school to learn pain management- 8 hours a day for 3 weeks. Not good,,,the pain management fall's into the "Bless and do not curse" category big time.

Wife just called,,,,"Why do I have your debt card and not mine?" They got mixed up last night,,,

*Drily said* She'd better be, Rebecca. They pulled 16 teeth at one time to get those dentures for the bottom- and an unknown number on top. She'll speak and her teeth will fall out,,,,Meanwhile I paid this months bills and shot myself in the foot- I forgot the cell phone bill! Oh well,,,,catch it on the 8th I guess!

Wow! Psalms CAN write more than one word! Thats OK though- I seldom write less than a whole paragraph of foolishness!

Well Psalm, nobody gets out of life alive anyway. Today the wifey-poo and I are celebrating 5 years of survival of my wifes massive stroke.

I'd just walked the dog and found the wife face planted on the bathroom floor- she'd stroked out while using the toilet. Spent 7 days on a vent, 32 days at Saint Joseph's hospital in Tacoma, and 64 days at Tacoma Rehab learning how to be herself. Followed by 8 long months of speech therapy.

So today's a great day, considering.

I have however wondered idly if I did her a disservice. Considering that dying of a stroke seems to be 100% painless (according to stroke survival victims I've interviewed) I wonder if I did her any favors by having her life saved?

Being Christians we should to some extent look forward to death- like the Apostle Paul writes in Romans as he muses "should I stay and keep on doing God's work, or should I leave to be with Jesus?" (words to that effect) Paul ends that line of thinking essentially with "Doesn't mater- Christ will make the decision for me anyway"

So today is a great day!

Yesterday- 10/02- was a great day of agony. I've been in great pain the past 3 and a half days due to kidney stones- finally went to the hospital. Wonderful- instead of two large boulders about the size of a .22LR bullet, it was like my kidneys were full of buckshot. So it wasn't just one thing making the kidneys angry it was a lot of little things making the kidneys angry. I almost passed out cold at the Seattle Veterans Hospital right in the ER entrance I was in so much pain. They gave me morphine, took the end off the pain and lowered it from about 8+ to around 1.5 to 2. I LIKE some minor pain- remember, as long as you feel pain you're alive. When you don't feel pain you're either unconscious or dead.

Then after 10 years the Wife and I went down to apply for her to get a Concealed Firearms Permit. She already spent $850 on THE Pistol (The average price of a pistol is around $450 dollars- of COURSE she finds the most expensive one and guess who REALLY paid for it?) But it is a beautiful pistol- and I demand and insist she goes to school to learn how to use it. Granted, I'm an NRA certified firearms instructor for pistol, refuse to be a victim and home safety. But there's some things a good husband doesn't do- and that's teach his wife how to shoot, or how to drive a car or truck.

so today's been a mixed blessing.

Morning Psalms! Well, the kidney stones I have are about the size of a .22 long rifle bullet- they're huge. The Doc gave me a mix of med's and "this drug will make you pass them". Well I felt some twinge of pain last night, no biggie. Woke up this morning and my underwear was soaked in blood!! THAT got my full and undivided attention! So I added more pain killers to my breakfast,,,,Doc wasn't foolin around and went heavy on them. Glad I'm retired and don't work-seeing that much blood and getting just an inkling of the pain before the morphine kicked in yesterday I'm sure I would have woke up screaming in agony.
