• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Full Scale War between Isreal and Hamas has broken out in the Gaza Strip.

The only real peace is the Peace of Christ in the Kingdom of Christ. Only when the Jews and the Muslims give up their false religions will their be peace in the Middle East. It is that simple.

Because everyone kows that Christians never go to war against Christians. (Want a list?)

Besides, this war has nothing to do with religion any longer. It is political.

Your example of Northern Ireland is not a counter-point to the need for the Peace of Christ. Protestantism was founded as a rejection of the Church of Christ. Luther completely understood Catholic doctrine and rejected it totally. The Protestant Revolution which resulted from this made war from the outset against the Church. Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, Knox, Cranmer, et al hated the Catholic Church and dedicated their lives to eradicating 'Popery'. Enter the English, who for whatever reasons always had a compulsion towards ruling every square inch of the British Isles at bayonet point... after the Reformation they took up persecuting the native religion as well.

I know that you do not hate the Catholic Church or Catholics, otherwise I don't think you would stick around here. But the Protestant Revolution as a movement was founded in hatred of the Church and will continue to wage war against her ceaselessly, probably until the end of time. Thus it should be no wonder that there has been discord between Catholics and Protestants.

When I say that the only peace is the Peace of Christ in the Kingdom of Christ, that can only be exercise one way, through the Catholic Church. It is the divine society founded by Our Lord.

There is no way to peace for the Jews and Muslims in the Middle East. Only if they become brothers in Christ Jesus, for whom there is neither Jew nor Arab but one man in place of the two, then there can be peace.

And here is some of what they said http://www.indcatholicnews.com/jointst1237.html

The Israeli violence and aggression of this present moment is without proportion or justification.
An Israeli soldier was taken prisoner in combat. A Jewish settler was kidnapped and killed. As a response, Israeli forces destroy three bridges and a power station, causing millions of dollars in damage and leaving up to 750 000 people without electricity or water in Gaza. Moreover, Israeli forces abducted 84 people, among them seven Cabinet Ministers and 21 members of the Palestinian Legislative Council. This comes after a week in which 48 Palestinians were killed, including 27 innocent civilians. The horrific statistic includes nine children and a pregnant woman.
Today, we Christian heads of the Churches in Jerusalem, say: " Events in our land are against law and reason. It is our duty as religious leaders to keepsaying this to the authorities. It is against law and reason that you remain on and you keep us on the ways of death. "The Lord saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice. He saw that there was no one, and was appalled that there was no one to intervene. ( Isaiah 59: 16)
We condemn the abduction of the Israeli soldier, the killing of the settler youth, as we condemn the daily abduction and killing of dozens of Palestinians as well as the incarceration of thousands of them in prisons. All human beings, Israelis and Palestinians, have the same dignity and must be treated equally. All violence and aggression against human dignity, whether Israeli or Palestinian must stop.
Our suffering, both Israeli and Palestinian, will end when the truth on both sides is recognized. The right of Israel to have security must be recognized. At the same time, there must be recognition that the core of the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians arises from the deprivation of freedom to the Palestinian people. We firmly support the fight against terrorism, but we remind equally firmly that this fight begins by eradicating the root cause of all violence, which is the deprivation of the freedom of the Palestinian people...

My husband just returned from Israel over a month ago. He told me the bombing started while he was there. This has been going on for awhile. Reminds me of children fighting...

They have certainly scaled up a bit.. (that's sarcasm for sure!). Maybe I'm selfish, but I'm so glad my husband is NO LONGER there. sigh.

I hate wars... I hate that man can be so greedy and selfish
I hate that people hate eachother...
for what?

for greed? to prove a point?

Don't they see what they are doing?

that they are killing innocent people? destroying lives? homes....

the people growing up in that war ridden place will be scarred....

May God grant them the wisdom to find a peaceful solution to their problems

may they find love in Christ.

Original post deleted - baiting to argumentation

Read Pius XI's Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio. He was writing in the aftermath of the Great War, pointing out the futility of the proposed league of nations to create a lasting peace. The cause of all war is sin and the only remedy I know for sin is the grace which Jesus Christ obtained on the wood of the Cross.

The point I made, which you say you don't follow, is that Protestantism is a false religion. It is not the religion of Jesus Christ and thus it cannot bring His peace to the world. Likewise, Islam and Judaism are false religions. The only way Jews and Muslims know of dealing with their enemies is to liquidate them. That also is applicable to many jingoistic American-Nationalists.

Only Jesus and Mary can give us a true and lasting peace. How can we not believe this?

From whence are wars and contentions among you? Are they not hence, from your concupiscences, which war in your members? You covet, and have not: you kill and envy and cannot obtain. You contend and war, and you have not: because you ask not. You ask and receive not: because you ask amiss, that you may consume it on your concupiscences. Adulterers, know you not that the friendship of this world is the enemy of God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of this world becometh an enemy of God. James 4:1-4

The Arab media show that the Americans support Isreal , is that right ??

Isreal was provoked into action by Hezbolla's first and is continued to be provoked by Hezbolla and it's supporters. Isreal kept it's agreements but Hezbolla obviously doesn't keep any agreements but you most likily know that since you live in that part of the world.

No. Hamas is the government of Palestine. Israel is a different country, Palestine's neighbour.

No, the Palestinian President is a member of Fatah. The majority in the legislature is from Hamas. The government in the area of the Palestinian Authority is one of co-habitation.

Christian Aid, Oxfam International and Save the Children UK fear that escalating violence in Gaza will lead to a humanitarian crisis for over 1.3 million Palestinians.

Without electricity, following the military strike on Gaza’s sole power station, three key sewage treatments plants are now out of action and over one hundred municipal water wells can no longer operate normally.

The agencies warn of an increasing scarcity of clean water, an increase in water -borne diseases from untreated sewage, and of a health system under extreme stress without stable power supplies.
Action must be taken by both Israel and the Palestinians to stop this deteriorating situation and bring a peaceful end to the crisis. All parties, including the international community, have a responsibility to protect civilians from violence.

The Government of Israel must end its continuing destruction of civilian infrastructure, including electrical generators and water pipelines necessary for survival and immediately restore supplies of food, medicine, electricity, fuel and water as well as opening the Karni crossing for goods.

Palestinian armed groups must stop indiscriminate attacks on Israel that harm civilians, including firing Qassam rockets into Israel. The international community also has a duty under international law to ensure the protection of all civilians.

Adam Leach, regional director from Oxfam said: 'Ordinary Palestinians are suffering from the destruction of bridges, water pipelines and electricity supplies - all things that civilians are entitled to and depend upon.

'Hundreds of thousands of people are without a regular supply of water. Many of our vital water projects had already been interrupted because of prolonged Israeli restrictions stopping supplies entering Gaza. People’s basic rights are being denied - this does nothing to secure a just and lasting peace in the region.'
Mr Leach said: 'The crisis comes as tens of thousands of families in Gaza and the West Bank are struggling to survive without an income because of the suspension of tax payments by the Government of Israel and aid by the international community to the Palestinian Authority.'

Jasmine Whitbread, Chief Executive of Save the Children added: 'In May, Save the Children warned of a rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza. Today we fear that the situation is sliding towards a humanitarian catastrophe.

'Children are suffering from acute anxiety and fear from ongoing Israeli military attacks and aerial bombardment. These attacks have also targeted civilian structures, including schools. Families, warned of new incursions, are already preparing to flee from targeted areas. Children as always are most affected.'
