• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Luke 6
22 Blessed are you when men hate you,
And when they exclude you,
And revile you, and cast out your name as evil,
For the Son of Man’s sake.
23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy!
For indeed your reward is great in heaven,
For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets

If we are doing right and not being deserving of their attacks (ie. treating them hatefully w/ ad hom, etc.), it's a blessing and honor to be ridiculed on those sites by them.

It's to their own shame that they treat God's people with such contempt.

I really don't think it matters - you guys assume you're right & you assume you're right that there's no God either.

It's still wrong to ridicule people as a sport & hobby; going around forums & chat rooms looking for fodder to use to make fun of people with.
It's to anyone's shame who makes that their enjoyment at other people's expenses regardless if you're correct or not and no matter who the targets are.

And I'd note again that this area is not for non fundamentalists to post - for some reason it seems real hard for people not to reply to our posts.

The other members of this particular thread said they didn't mind me being here, but I apologize if you seem my presence as inappropriate.

Yes... we do think that we are right, just as you folks think that you are right. Throwing that stone makes no difference I suppose.

Once again... I apologize for my intrusion

I didn't report you and I don't plan on it either and I don't think you're intruding when people have rolled out a welcome mat =0)

I just didn't want this to turn into 'open season' with other non fundamentalists hopping in to make their comments (just that it happens that way if nobody says anything) =)

With that said, I'm in agreement with atheists in a slight way becuz I also think people on forums claim to know God when I have serious doubts due to what I see from them as well. (but I base mine on scripture - you base yours on other things as well).

I know the types of people you're referring to, but you're reading in that they have blind faith when I disagree that it's blind.
I personally wanted a life without God in it for lots of years so I could have my fun and not have to live in restriction and all that stuff.

But when God makes Himself known to you, and works in your conscience and won't let you go, there comes a time when you can't deny it anymore & you have to move.
Since that time in my life, my life is 200% more abundant and fulfilled and peaceful than the fun I had planned for myself instead.

With that said, what looks like we throw out logic to blindly trust scripture isn't blind, He's PROVEN Himself to us in our spirit with His calling on our life and making Himself known. At that point, faith does step in and we know that what APPEARS to look illogical really isn't illogical, it's human nature/lack of faith in knowing our God.
So that's why it might appear to you (sometimes) that we throw logic out, we just have trust in God past what things appear to be down here to us.
Faith in the unseen & unknown - based on trust we've accumulated thru our relationship & walk w/ the Lord.

I hope that better explains that.
However, yes, I have seen some claims from some that are wacky - nothing I'd of said. (I think some need to sharpen up on their debate skills before entering some arena's)
:/

Wacky to say the least. There are plenty of people who are down right stupid! I imagine that is just as frustrating to you folks as it is to us. When you have someone totally misrepresenting your side of an argument, it must be very upsetting. The Rapture Ready people seem to be the most off base. It would be helpful to everyone if someone could rein them in for all our sakes. Many of them are almost giddy at the idea of the world ending and everyone but their kind suffering.

I'm sure we could all benefit from sharpened debate skills

It can be embarrassing sometimes sure. But in every single group you have the village 'ignorant'. :p :holy:
I've seen my fair share of ignorant, bias, hateful atheists tho too.
& personally, I don't doubt that we've both frustrated or embarrassed our peeps at some point or another. ;) =)~

K - on this statement, I'd add that I'm a Rapture believing Christian as well. I see enough evidence & support for it biblically.
But what you see & what we see are 2 different things.

We live in a world that is mostly hostile to God & Christianity, we don't like the way the systems are or the immorality & sin that brings so much unecessary pain and suffering in this world - to people & animal's alike,
we WANT the earth restored to its former glory when sin & death will be done away with.
That's EXCITING to us, so we want it to come, that's our hope and joy!

So all you mite see in it is that we want it to happen so people who reject God get judged, but that is NOT our hope, it's just a reality of what has to happen for that restoration to occur.
But at the same time we realize that it's not like the door is closed that you can't know God yourselves if you chose to or wanted to.

But if people are actually saying they're happy about the judgment stuff then I think they really need to get in tune with God's love & mercy & longsuffering attributes --- or get saved & become a real Christian.

Just typed my name in. Surprised to see I've been there four times.

They shouldn't be so hard on us. After all, Secular Humanism derives its ethics from Christianity.

I'm not sure that's entirely true, the most definitely partially true. Just because two belief systems share something, doesn't always mean that one derived its shared parts from the other. It is possible to arrive at the same place by different means.
