  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm just going to be blunt. I'm not sure if the Lord wishes for me to be visiting CF for a while. I get a joy out learning things I never knew about our Faith, but it has almost at the same time become like an addiction. I enjoy trying to teach others what it is we believe, rather than the falsehoods they have been taught about the Catholic Faith, but sometimes I get so wrapped up in the discussion that I forget about everything else.
I don't attend a private school, so I have never had a chance to REALLY learn anything about ANY religion. I actually spend more time on this message board soaking up information and typing, than I do homework, which is a bad thing considering the workload I have for some of my classes.
Right now, I feel as if God is telling me that I need to start getting my priorities rearranged and that I need to start working harder in my classes. I know that when I go to college, I'm going to be taking as many theological classes as I possibly can. So maybe that will be the time I get to actually enjoy learning? I can honestly say that I have found no greater joy than in reading the information about our Faith that I never and seeing it applied and getting to apply it in my life.
I may be coming back, I may not be. I'll probably be visiting every now and then though if I feel compelled to.

I'm going to spending a good part of my Monday on the 19th contemplating my life and being in front of our Lord while our parish allows adoration of our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.

:sigh:

Thank you once again and please keep me in your prayers.

FMT,

I think that you are very wise.

Anything which detracts from our prayerful time of meditaion upon our lord, should be reviewed and corrected. For a while, I myself became rather 'obsessed' with CF and rather than it being a pleasure to access, it became something of an addiction ~ it is for this reason that i now restrict my time here. I choose either to pop in two or three times a day and stay for 15 minutes or so, or i stay on continually for between 15 minutes and up to an hour and a half. I try to not stay on longer than 90 minutes a day~i feel much better for it, though i do lapse form time to time!

What i must stress is that without the fellowship, encouragement, knowledge and opportunity for learning, here in OBOB, i doubt that i would have found may way home-to-Rome, for a very long time!

It is not only an opportunity to expand one's knowledge and endear our Brethren to us, but it is an opportunity to love others, to reach out to others, to clarify what is misunderstood by others, and to witness the dawning of the realisation of those who fought or struggled with the 'concept' of Catholicism ~ positively embrace it.

Just a quick question. Why does everyone say their being lead here and there by God, when in fact it is urself leading you?
I wasn't led to Catholicism by 'me' I was led here by the Grace of God, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

I had forgotten to delete my incredly large list of subscriptions to threads (stupid me). So of course I can't help but see whats going on!
I might just come over here for an hour on Sundays and Saturdays each and if I don't have any homework maybe 1/2 hr on weekdays...much less than the 2+ hours I had been almost everyday. I'll probably still be online for the same amount of time though...so that I can use AOL radio while I do my hw...if my away message isn't on I'm free to talk :)
Thank you for all your support w/this decision, your advice and your prayers.

MT,
School is important. And trust me when you get to college you will have plenty of time to go on the internet. And we can also help you with your papers;)

I know what it is like to realize that you have spent too much time on a forum. It happened to me so I took some time off. Limits are important to set. You are making a good decision. See you soon!

Hey MT, while I am not Catholic nor anti-Catholic (I really want to see Prot/Cath/Orth churches together though), I'd like to say a few things...yeah. :)

I have the same problem, it sounds like--wanting to learn, fellowship, post, read, etc [and debate, hehe]...but I often end up putting my school stuff behind. There is also a LOT I want to finish writing, like my own challenge to atheism, a few sermons of interest, a moment on evil, and a few other things.....yikes!

I'm addicted. =\ I have tried working 'near' the comp, which didn't work. The best for me working is in my room with nothing but the lights on and the door shut. I have a thought you may want to consider keeping in your mind..."If you have anything to do, then go do it."

You can do this, MT!
