JOB 17

9 “Nevertheless the righteous will hold to his ways,
And he who has clean hands will grow stronger and stronger.
9 “然而,义人要持守所行的道;

HOLD ON TO CLEAN HANDS

Job is one of my favourite characters in the Bible. He went through so much! Allied to that he had a difficult wife. It seems that she went the course with him as he had more children at the end!

He also had the three friends. These guys were ok... until they started talking!!!.

Do you remember what Job's wife said to him at the end of chapter 2, "Curse God and die."

Do you remember what happened to Job at the end of the book?, although he was told off by God, the final word was that Job hadn't sinned against God with his mouth.

David poses a wonderful question in Psalm 24:

3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?
4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

Job was one who could stand in the holy place of the Lord?
Why? Because he had all the attributes outlined in verse 4 above.
If you have clean hands like Job had, you will grow stronger. Both Job and David were blessed by God, because their hearts were right with God.

How clean are your hearts and hands?

God bless you,

Keith

EXODUS 16:28

And the Lord said to Moses, “How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My laws?"

God's Frustration
From our passage, God had just brought the Israelites through the Red Sea on dry land. As the Israelites watched the dead bodies of the Egyptians wash up on the shore, they broke out in worship and praise of the hand of God on their behalf (Exodus 14-15).

It was not long after they worshipped the Lord that they begin to complain against the Lord. First, they complained about water. So, God turned a lake that was bitter into water so that they might drink. Next, they complained about food. Then God provided bread from heaven known as Manna, along with quail. But God gave specific instructions regarding how the people of Israel were to receive this blessing. Unfortunately, the people of Israel, like many of us today, disobeyed God in gathering the Manna which caused God a great deal of frustration, and prompted Him to ask the question we see in the above passage.

Regrettably, we see a similar situation in the church today. God calls us to love Him with all our heart, with all our strength, with all our soul and with all our mind, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Yet, we find that many Christians place worldly pursuits above the living God, and even more troubling, you have Christians that do not love their neighbor, because their neighbour may be different from themselves.
While we are instructed as Christians to avoid marrying a non-believer, we should love them with the love of Christ, and pray for their salvation.
Another example of God being frustrated is a story regarding King Saul. In I Kings 15, Saul was commanded by God to destroy the Amalekites. Saul failed to do so and it frustrated God. As a result, God removed Saul from being King and replaced him with David. Nothing frustrates God more than disobedience. As His children, God does not ask us for much, but He does ask for our best. We should give Him no less.

God bless you
