Since it is The Lord's choosing and not man's which really matters, we are wise to consider how The Lord chooses whom He chooses.

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. <-----> John 15:16

When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person. <-----> Job 22:29

Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble. <-----> 1st Peter 5:5

Love is the capacity to esteem/regard others above oneself.

Faith is the ability to perceive/receive Christ's love.

Hope is the resiliency to remind/retain the above.

And now abides faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. <-----> 1st Corinthians 13:13

To be religious means The Truth is not God but the minds of men is!

Those in human hearts who claim to be good, will meet the ugliest surprise of their life time when The Truth of God is revealed!:o

So you think lust feels good - burning hotly for more good life - without bringing lasting sanctification - only ever burning good?

The truly religious fear God, while the pseudo-religious fear man.

And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. <-----> Luke 12:4+5

Wherefore the Lord said, For as much as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honor me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: <-----> Isaiah 29:13

Even as long is the opposite of short, what we desire in the short-term is often contrary to what we would have in the long-run.

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

If (with The Lord's help), we do put our old sinful ways behind us, they'll come a day when we are no longer associated with any of them.

Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. <-----> Isaiah 1:16-18

True religion is to love the lost and hurting other in need of love and acceptance!

James 1:27

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
