I was just talking in another thread about the fact that my sister gets free DVD rentals since she works at Blockbuster.

Does your employer offer any fringe benefits? If so, what kind?

My company sells savings plans. Only fringe benefit I get is having the fees waived. :( I've worked for two different banks, and I used to have my monthly banking fees waived, as well as fees for other banking services like certified cheques, etc. I miss those benefits.

I want to get a job at an electronics company... like Canon or Sony, so I can discounts on their products.

Since I stay home now, no, no fringe benefits. My favorite fringe benefit from my working days, though, was 30% off at Shoe Carnival (I love shoes  ).

My husband doesn't have many fringe benefits (besides some seriously great connections), working for the school system, but he does get great prices on Preds tickets (NHL), which we love. We're going to a game in February with some great tickets ($60 seats) he got for $15 a piece through his department in the school system.

We and our little girls LOVE hockey games (LOVE LOVE LOVE), so that's a really nice perk.

LOL, my mom also has frequent opportunities for FREE Preds tickets through her work (her company buys several sets of season tickets and then does company wide drawings for those tickets not snatched up by the upper management...it's great). LOL, she's very generous in sharing those with us, too, because she knows how much we love to go. And those are completely free...awesome.

I work for a university so I get free Education, which is the best. Employees here can take 2 credits per year for free, plus discounts on anything above that, plus free computer courses, and discounts for your family to go to school here. We also have a great discount plan for car rentals, hotels, and restaurants. Not to mention the extra insurance (that covers you even when travelling on personal time) and health plans and financial planning.

I do phone tech support for a state court system. I have lots of free time (some days I have little...but hey!) to get online on a ultra-fast Internet connection. I also know a good many judges and DAs from all over the state. Kinda nice knowing that if I ever get in trouble I can just flash my work id badge.
;)

And once a year I get a free pen, mousepad or some other crap. Yeah. Livin the high life!!

I get discounts at a local gym, discounts at a resturant, and discounts on computer stuff.

DBF is better though...he works at Comcast, and gets HUGE discounts on cable...gets the digital cable package w/on-demand and internet for free.

We get stuff from clients, not much from the firm.

Discounts on appliances from Whirlpool. Free lunches on occassion from vendors, got a laptop bag from a vendor, corporate discounts on fed ex packages.

I think that's it.
Ahh, you reminded me...my husband quite often gets free stuff from contract companies employeed by the school system...free t-shirts, free polo shirts, free bags, pens, pads of paper, free electronic devices...anything that they frequently give away for the purpose of marketing, lol.

But I don't count those as great fringe benefits because, besides the shirts (which my hubby wears often), all they do is add senseless clutterr to my house.

Also, the contract companies frequently take my husband and his team out for nice lunches...at least once a week. Of course, I don't count those either, lol, because I don't get a free lunch out of it. :(

I love lunch. :(

I don't get fringe benefits like free banking (oh those were the days), or free hockey tickets, however every year that I meet my sales targets, I get to go on a sales reward trip...Jamaica last year, Mexico in less than a month - yippee!!
The sales reps who are licensed by my company get that too.

This year, the incentive trip is the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas. Too bad I'm not one of the sales reps. :(

My husband works for the county prosecuter. I guess one of use might get off 'easy' if we committed a petty crime. On the other hand, hubby would also probably loose his job, so not much a fringe benefit there.

When my husband worked for Immigration and it was still part of the Department of Justice (that division is now part of the Department of Homeland Security), there was a rumor that cops would let you off if you got pulled over and said you worked for the DOJ. Professional courtesy, so to speak. Too bad hubby didn't think of this when he got a speeding ticket about 1/4 of a mile from his office.

When my hubby was in the military, he never got a ticket, despite being pulled over several times.

I remember one time just after we were married, my husband was drinking a beer while driving (he wasn't drunk at all...it was his first beer and he'd just opened it), but the cop was driving right beside us and literally saw the profile of my husband turning up the bottle.

Long story short, after giving him a bunch of sobriety tests and a nice long lecture, he let my husband go without even giving him a ticket (as long as I promised to drive for the rest of the night).

My little brother had similar experiences while in the Marines...including getting out of a speeding ticket on the interstate, even though he was driving 90.

To a degree, it is 'professional courtesy', I think...but at the same time it's kind of scary.

I work for a law firm, and as long as I don't have to go to court or see clients, I can wear jeans to work. The firm provides all the soda, coffee, water, juice, tea, hot chocolate and snacks we could ever want (gained 30 lbs my first year here), and beer for after hours.

Discount on clothing and discounted cell phone plans and phones for the management. (We haven't taken advantage of the cell phone thing.)

With a previous company I worked for I could stay at 5 different well known hotel chains anywhere in the world for $25 a night. We got a King Suite at a new resort for a week and only spend $125!
