  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do any of you have the problem of all your friends being married? I'm 27, but everyone I know is married w/kids. I wouldn't mind going out and hanging with the girls, but they're home with the hubby/kids. The people I do meet at work who are single don't really follow the same kind of lifestyle I lead. Out to the clubs until 3am is not my idea of fun.
YES!!! About 95% of my friends are married. I know exactly how you feel. I love my married friends, but it's hard them to be as spontaneous as I want to be sometimes...like I might want to go out shopping one night, but they can't go b/c they don't have a sitter or whatever.

yeah, nearly all of my friends are married. however, a year and a half ago when i moved to edmonton and started attending my current church, i discovered a large population of single people, so that's great... it still takes awhile to get to know anyone on any meaningful level though, but it's happening. :)

renaistre, I know how you feel, I have a thing about Friday nights too. I feel like I always have to be doing something fun but I'm slowly learning that it really is just another night and just because the 'world' is out doing their thing, doesn't mean I HAVE to be doing something. I tell myself over and over that I do not consider what they do as 'fun' anyway, so it's all good.

*try a new restaurant
*go bowling
*rent/view a movie in theaters (I go by myself if i'm impulsive and I have no one to join me :p )
*talk to people online
*read in the Word
*waste time on CF's
*go to Denny's with a friend and stay up late talking
*bug my roommate
*dance in my bedroom (hey, it's better than the club atmosphere to me ;) )

I noticed if I have at least one person to talk to whether it be someone online, on the phone, or in person (preferably) then I am perfectly ok. I love people. <--- for all people.

:pink:

Very few of my friends are married. I'm 26, and I'd say the majority of my friends are in their late 20s and early 30s, and only one couple is married. Several are in committed relationships heading for marriage, but even those constitute only around 20%. Of the people I get to see and hang out with regularly, none are married and only a few are in committed relationships. You could say I hang in the young free and single crowd. LOL

you know i was just thinking, because of someone posting that they sometimes go out to a movie by themselves, well, what's wrong with that? If you go somewhere alone, like to a movie or a coffee shop or a bookstore, maybe you will meet interesting people there to befriend. You just never know!

No doubt. I dont' mind going alone at all, heh. One time when I was viewing the film 'Barber Shop' by myself, a kind, African American gentlemen was sitting a few seats away (also by himself) and he had bought too much popcorn.....guess who got some?? :p I love meeting new people. Sometimes when playing cards with various friends before dinner in a restaurant, we'll ask the table next to us if they wanna join us, makes it a little more interesting. ^_^

Nothing's wrong with going to a movie by yourself. I do it all the time. If I want to see a movie, I don't wait until someone else can go with with. I'm off to see it.

Yeah, I go to movies by myself too. I guess some people might think that makes me a loser, but if no one else wants to go with me, I'm not going to not see that movie! Sometimes I don't really mind being alone. On Firday nights, I usually
*watch tv
*get online
*read
*exercise  lol
*watch a movie
*clean
*homework
This Friday I am going to a "coffee house" thing at my church. They are going to have music and stuff. I think it should be fun!

Right now, some of the things I do are:

- Go to a Bible study once every few weeks.
- Play my instruments.
- Go to sleep early.
- Play computer games with my little brother.
- Go online and log on to CF.

we are like twin brothers! I do everything on your list!

Being alone is a good thing. The world is so noisy and people are so busy that they don't have time to be by themselves and just think about life and everything that goes with it.

I know a lot of you here don't date. I also know that Friday nights are traditionally "date nights," or at least that's what movies and music tell us. So I was just curious what ya'll do on Friday nights.

oh.. i didn't know that.

Friday is for church youth group. i don't know why, but it seems most of the churches in my area all have their youth group on friday night.. lol, so you can't even go visit other churches on a visitation. Friday clashes!

most youth groups around here also pick friday night--I think it's for the exact purpose of giving kids something wholesome to do on friday night instead of some of the alternatives!

the youth group at my church switches to saturday once a month, so then you could do a friday visitation :)

Yeesh. I don't know about everybody else, but I don't get out of the office on Friday until business from the week is taken care of and the next week is laid out and planned. Sometimes that could mean that I'm leaving at 8:00 or 9:00 pm and even that I may be taking work home with me. (What ever happened to the good ol' 8 hour days and overtime?)

My "date night" is usually Saturday night and it usually involves dating my girlfriends at the movies, dinner, local clubs, and sometimes, Club Hopping in British Columbia.

Then there are the nights when I'm not feeling too social and I usually light a candle, put on a CD and jump into a hot bath for an hour or so before I curl up in bed with a good book or a movie.

I have church on Friday nights, and afterward, I have platform practice for about an hour to an hour and a half, and during practice we have a snack shop open in our fellowship hall, so everyone goes down there and guess what? Fellowships *smile*. By the time I get out of practice I usually go downstairs and join the fun, but by then it's usually close to leaving time, so I help clean up the hall, go home, watch some t.v., talk with my family, pop in an episode of ALIAS, and go to sleep.

I stay in and watch Friends and Will and Grace, as the new episodes are on on a Friday night... Sometimes I'm away on camp, or might be at someone's birthday. I like a quiet Friday night, so even when I was dating, I'd avoided going out that night.
