I still like a lot of the old Doris Day movies. On Moonlight Bay and By the Light of the Silvery Moon.
Then there's Fred McMurray in The Happiest Millionaire.

AHH! Yes, Prom.. Doris Day movies.. I just love 'em. All the old movies.. I could sit and watch for hours.

I don't know about there but it's pretty hard to find the old ones here. You can find a few at the rental places but we've seen most all of them. We have ordered a few off ebay. Then recently we joined this thing called "Clean Films". For a few dollars a month you can suscribe to their edited films. They take out the objectionable stuff. We've seen good movies that we would never have watched unedited.
They come in the mail on DVD. You give them a list of movies that you want to see and they mail them to you. They come with a self addressed mailer so they can be quickly popped back in the mail with no hassle. As soon as they get it back another from your list is sent. We have them coming every few days and it is actually cheaper than renting from the video store.

This service has really opened up a lot of good movies for us. I understand that in some places this company has rental stores you can go in. They say that people are getting to be more discriminating in what they will watch. I hate it when the movie companies make an otherwise great film and mess it up with vile stuff. I guess whatever makes the $......

Doris Day was my sister's idol. Hair-wise. She loved her hair. She always wore her hair like hers.

My idol was Sally Field (Gidget) in junior high. I wore my hair like hers.

Do you realize that Friday night is coming up again soon?
We are having some young people over for games, food and laughs. :D
We have very casual get togethers. The kids (ages 18 to 25) love to gather here. I haven't figured out exactly why, but we have lots of fun. :D

Last night was great fun with these younsters. Lots of laughs! :D
However we had one girl who normally isn't a part of our group that was just plain rude. I have heard about her behavior at other get togethers before and am told that last night was pretty mild compared to some of her tirades. She found out about our party from some of the others and practically invited herself. My Mandy being the sweetheart that she is told her that she could come also.
She had a disagreement with one of the young men who actually set her off by teasing her. She responded by screaming at him and insulting him. The others just kind of hung their heads in embarrasement. I was taken off guard and didn't know what to say. Finally I just suggested that we start another game and that ended it.
Now I am wondering what happens the next time. There is something planned for next month and she intends to be here. I am really feeling that she doesn't need to be humored in this behavior. For her sake as well as everyone else's she needs to stop this.
Our family is just not accustomed to screaming at one another. And if it happens in my home out of respect for all of us I need to confront her. I also know that the Bible says that a soft answer turns away wrath so I need to have the right heart attitude myself. :) I want to respond to her out of love and not anger.
Anyone got any ideas of what to say to her? :help:
There is one other little twist to this, this girl is my boss"s daughter.

Hm. Prom is in a pickle. Wish I could help. I'm just not good at that kinda thing. If the kid's the boss's daughter, it makes it really a predicament.

Any wise old eagles out there that can advise please? Earn your keep in the nest. :D

Prom,

Just because she is your boss' daughter does NOT give her the sense of entitlement to do as she please in anyone's homes. You can take her aside for a private talk before the party starts and let her know that in YOUR house, she have to obey YOUR rules. She's welcome to be part of the party, but if she acts up the drama queen yet again, she can be sure that she will NOT be welcome in your house for some time.

If she wants to whine to her parent about how she's not welcome, then depending on how well you get along with your boss, just plainly tell your boss that you HAD given the daughter a private talk about your rules, yet his/her daughter didn't respect the rules when visiting at your home.

Dunno what else to tell you.....but I hope this helps. Maybe one of your kids could talk to her before the party, because sometimes, kids listen to their peers more than they listen to adults.

Yes, pull the boss aside. Grab him by the neck and shake him and say: "See here, stupid! That brat of yours is ruining everything at my house! I'm going to knock her into next week if you don't do something about it!"

Then slap him a couple of times.

If he were a real man, he'd understand and you won't lose your job.

:D
