  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can you tell me the jist of what happened this past episode?
Sure.

Buddy Garrity was kicked out of his house by his wife because of what Tyra's mom did at the church the week before. He and his wife were fighting hard, and it was upsetting Lyla and her little brother and sister. She called Jason in Austin to talk to him about it, but he was on his way out to a party and blew her off.

Buddy goes to Coach's house and asks him and his wife if he can crash at their place. They don't want him there, but they reluctantly agree. The next day, Julie - who was out the night before - wakes up and goes into the bathroom to find Buddy in there with a towel around his waist brushing his teeth. She was not pleased. :D

In the meantime, Jason never called Lyla back, so she packs a bad and drives down to Austin. She finds Jason outside his training class for the paralympics, and they talk for a while. He tells her that being on this team is the first thing that has made him happy since the accident, which upsets her (but of course she doesn't say anything). He also tells her that everything "will be okay" with her folks, which does not comfort her. She notices his new tattoo on his arm, and is very much not pleased about it. She tells him, "It's not you" and he says, "It is now."

They go to a party that night with the other team members, and the one guy who went to Austin with Jason got into an argument with Lyla. She said Jason would make the team because he was an ex-quarterback, and he said, "In case you haven't noticed, this isn't football." She was drunk and snarked back, "No, I've noticed, it's not." The tattoo girl stepped in and when Lyla found out she was the one who gave Jason his tattoo, she went off on her. She told her maybe she should mind her own business or go tattoo someone else's fiance.

Later that night, Jason and Lyla have sex successfully for the first time since the accident. It's a tender moment between them, but you can tell Lyla is afraid they are drifting too far apart, especially when Jason starts talking about going to Beijing with the team (if he makes it).

Back in Dillon, Tim is throwing a wild party and the new next door neighbor, a single mom, comes over and complains about the noise. The next morning, Tim's outside fixing his car, and the neighbor's little boy, Bo, comes over to talk to him. He is adorable, and always calls him "Tim Riggins", never just Tim. :D Tim starts to like the kid and teaches him to throw a football, and later the boy coerces his mom into inviting Tim for dinner.

At dinner, Tim grows closer to the boy and his mom. Bo gives Tim a picture of himself, which Tim says he'll put on his refrigerator. He then notices that their gutter is falling off, and the mom says she never has time for that kind of thing. So the next morning, Tim gets on a ladder and fixes her rain gutter.

This is a lot longer than you probably wanted. :D

Okay, almost done! Coach gets a call from the college guy who wants to have dinner with him and his wife. He doesn't want to tell Buddy about it because he doesn't want him to know he might have another job offer. While they go out to dinner, Buddy stays home (eating a pork chop Coach's wife was forced to make for him) with Julie, but Julie sneaks out later to go to a party at Tyra's house with Matt.

At the party, Tyra finds out from Julie that she was forbidden from hanging out with Tyra. Tyra gets really upset about it because she feels judged by Julie's mom. Then Tyra's mom - who took too many painkillers because she was upset about Buddy dumping her - falls into a glass table and starts bleeding all over the living room. The kids rush her to the hospital, and Julie calls her mom and asks her to come help because there are no adults there to handle the situation. Mom leaves dinner and heads to the hospital, sends Julie home with Matt, and takes Tyra and her mom back to their house.

When she's about ready to leave, she notices the mess from the party and starts to clean it up. Tyra tells her not to bother and asks her to leave. She won't leave, so Tyra goes off on her about forbidding Julie to be friends with her, blaming everything on Tyra and nothing on Julie. Julie's mom feels bad about it and apologizes, saying she thought she was ready for Julie's teenage rebellion, but wasn't, and had blamed Tyra unfairly. They clean up the mess all night long, and when she finally leaves she has a closer relationship with Tyra.

In the meantime, Coach goes home from dinner alone, and finds out Buddy has scratched a pencil across the notepad by the phone to figure out who they'd gone to dinner with. He knows it was the guy from the college and he gets mad at Coach for thinking about leaving Dillon. Coach tells him he needs to be more concerned about his wife and family, and less concerned about high school football. The next day, Buddy packs up and leaves to go to a hotel, but says he will always care about Dillon footfall.

Later that day, Coach tells his wife that he was offered the job at the college.

I think that's all! (And really, isn't it enough?) :D

No, that was a new episode - and a great one at that! I really want Jason and Lila to be over, I am LOVING Tim Riggins with that little boy, and Julie with Coach was just so sweet. I love this show :)
