  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My best friend was a Mason (he passed away last year in October at the age of 60) but he was not Christian, he identified as a Druid. I didnt know much about the Mason side of him though, he didnt talk to me much about it. I attended his memorial after his death which was held at the local Masonic Lodge, it seemed somewhat Christian to an extent, but left room for interpretation.

I dont know if Jim ever did any magick, but I do know that he was very spiritual, but not in a Christian sense. He followed Celtic deities.

The quote under my name has nothing to do with Masonry.
Nor did I intend to suggest it did. I just noticed it dangling there, perceived its usefulness as a general truth statement, and noted its relevance to the current debate.

It's more a comment on heirarchical organizations that either intentionally or unintentionally use heirarchy to spread and hide accountability to such a point that no one is accountable for anything, at least in some arenas.
Well put, this is one facet of what I was addressing, and you express it well. Today's "megachurch" is a prime example of what you are saying. Like shapeshifters, when one of the hierarchy comes under fire, generally the substitute for accountability is to shuffle the guilty party to another (preferably distant) arena. And it usually comes with a promotion, lest the party in question become indignant and there be a resultant disturbance in the force.

Although some religious organizations may sometimes fall into this trap, I wouldn't exactly call it a rampant problem.
Which leads one to wonder why it would warrant such prominence in someone's forum display, yet not in one's thinking.
