Freedom From Self-Injury

Dear Friends,

I struggled with self-injury for six years, and by the end, I was cut up, bound up, and broke up by the chains of self-injury and my past. Recently though, I just graduated Teen Challenge, a faith based program for men, women, and teens who struggle with life controlling issues.

God saved my life... I am free from myself. There is not a day my eyes don't sparkle when I wake up, because I am happy to be alive, I am happy to be free....

Now I want to help others who struggled with what I did. At the time, I can only be prayer support, and provide as much edification as I can.

Now I am a leader at TC, intern, music director, and praise and worship leader. It is possible to be free!

I know how it feels to want to numb the pain, or to feel something because you feel so numb. I know how it is to feel so overwhelmed at times, and you feel discombobulated inside and you don't know what else to do.

But there is hope. There is life. And that is in Jesus. Instead of pointing here and saying, this is what I feel. You can point to Jesus.

I was one before for one of the teams, I forgot which team it was. It was awhile ago before I relapsed. I would love too, but I have only made a few posts thus far since I have been back. I might not be eligible yet, and I would only be on about an hour a day. I would love to though, especially the recovery team, because I want all the experience I can in helping others. If I do, I would want to focus on one or two topics in recovery, to make sure it isn't too overwhelming! I've only been graduated a couple weeks, and I got a good plate!!!!! chicken, macaroni, asparagus all my favorite foods. I just don't want it to pile up too high.

God has given me so much more strength and tenacity since then. He has been so good to me. He has restored what I have lost, and so much more. I am just so grateful... what I lost as a result of self-injury, God has given back to me when I returned to Him, MUCH more then that, beyond my wildest dreams... I love James 1:12 "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him." Though I fell into temptation so many times, all I needed to do, was to turn to God and resist temptation... He just gives me life... everlasting. If this is earth, I can't imagine what Heaven will be like. Because I am just so filled with unhindered joy. My spirit just sings. Praise God... I am just so grateful for all He has done.
