I wish we could pre-select only the threads we might be welcome in. It is easy to jump into a discussion half way down the page not knowing if it is sectarian or not. If only threads were offered by subscription or remain hidden, it would alleviate lots of unnecessary tension between different persuasions.

Possibly a fly over on each side bar option revealing the sect or neutrality of the thread.

That's a good idea, Dave.
I have found myself in the middle of a post, double-checking where I am, so as to not violate the rules. Or revising my post after I realized where I was. Not always easy to know what might be offensive either. Where do you draw the line? You have to be fully appraised of the group area beliefs to know.

It would also be more Christian like for the offended party to PM the person with a warning before turning them in for banning. It seems vengeful and unforgiving to resolve differences this way. In fact, the moderators should make this mandatory and only then add dismissal points to deliberate offenders if they persist.

The current system shields the accuser. (not revealed to the accused) They can use the "legal" system to do their bidding. (dirty work)

Hi. My name is Steve, but my birth name is Stephen.
My patron Saint is none other than my bro Stephen in Acts 7 :)

https://www.christianforums.com/threads/stoning-of-stephen-against-the-law.6719420/

Acts 7
56 and said, "Look! I see the heavens having been opened and the Son of the Man standing out of rights of the God!"
59 And as they were stoning Stephen, he was calling out and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”
60 And having fallen on his knees, he cried in a loud voice, “Lord, do not place this sin to them.”
And having said this, he fell asleep.

At the risk of seeming a tad obtuse, I gave no idea what the OP is suggesting.
I have joined in on discussions, unaware they were meant for a certain group of a certain theological bias. The Messianic forum was the last where someone reported me for violating rules stating that only "Messianics" could post there. So he turned me in adding points (three strikes and you're out for a month). It would help if these "specialized" forums were off limits automatically unless you deliberately turn them on. Also it would be courteous if the complaining party would PM a warning before giving you the ax. And if posting continues after the warning, then complain.

Thanks for your interest in this.

DELETED DUE TO WARNING
If I am not mistaken, I don't think members are allowed to post staff actions on a public thread. Just put "NP".
This post will self destruct soon..........ehehe

No —— everyone can post there in fellowship. What they are not allowed to do is to teach contrary to the doctrines of that group. No different than going to a Presbyterian folder and preaching against Calvin, or the Catholic folder and saying what a dweeb the pope was.

That is true of every denominational folder on this site.

It is important to look at what forum you are in and check the Statement of Purpose for that forum for specific guidelines.

As to the congregational forums, please note that the site rules include:

Congregational Forum Restrictions
Members who do not truly share the core beliefs and teachings of a specific congregational forum may post in fellowship or ask questions, but they may not teach or debate within the forum.
So it is not okay to post against the beliefs of a congregation in their congregational forum. However, you can post in fellowship in that forum.

Not always. The OP can set the thread so that only people within that group have permission to reply to it - there is a little button at the top that says '[congregation] only'. I missed one of those and had my posts on a thread deleted, although I was only agreeing with the OP and/or asking a question - because NO comments are permitted on those threads if you are not part of that congregation, even if you're just saying 'thanks for posting' or 'I agree'.

It's easy to spot which section you are in if you look around the forum via the sections - but I'm sure I'm not the only one who goes by 'new posts' instead, and it's much harder then. And sometimes, threads are posted in forums where I can't reply, but the topic doesn't seem particularly relevant to that forum, so it's easy to make a mistake. So if a filter were possible, that would be great.

I think the point of the OP is that we might not always realize that we are in a Congregational Forum. It's too easy to click into a current sidebar topic without realizing where we ended up. This has happened to me, and others I'm sure. I have found myself double-checking to see where I am, and revising, or deleting posts when I realized where I was. There is also the question of, "What are the stated common beliefs of this group?" Can we know with any certainty what they might find offensive?
