I was a little shocked at first. And then the new look of the posts really suprised me, especially the job status ribbons. Kind of cool, although I'm going to miss the little character.

All in all, I like. :D

I agree! Could you at least move the support area back on top again, where it should be? That would be helpfull for new members and old residents alike!

I love the swap and the new look. I spend a good bit of time in the CO section and this will make it easier! Also, it will be more inviting to Christians - they can spend time in CO before heading to the open fight... er, debate areas. :D

I like change. I like updates and improvements. I especially like the look of the posts now. Very stylized.

You might want to consider though, putting the New Members Introduction forum at the top of the main page list. I agree with one of the earlier posters about this. If you want to attract New members, helping them know where to start should be intentionally self explanitory. User friendly as it were.

I do like the For Christians Only forums being at the forfront though. For exacly the reason you did it. God bless you Erwin. May you never tire of improving this site.

You know, having the announcements at the top would be an excellant idea. It gives everyone a chance to find out what's new and the happenings and changes on the board.

As for the flip of having the CO section at the top: I think it's a great idea. Since this is a "Christian" site, it makes a whole lot of sense for it to be at the top. Besides, any good site explorer would have no trouble finding the bottom portion of the site if they looked good enough.

When I first arrived at CF, I had a difficult time finding the CO section. I like it better this way.

I'm really concerned that the forum flip will really cut into the amount of people who find CF all the time. For one, any non-Christian who opens the site is going to see one thing glaring at them.

"Forums for Christians Only"

The first glance seems very exclusive.

I realize that it would be nice to have more Christians in the Christians-only forums, but this will instead just jumble up where people go, and turn people away when upon first glance and scrolling, all they see are debate/theologically partisan forums, not to mention the lack of non-Christians we're going to have glancing around and seeing quite a bit of God's word now.

I like the new look, but not the flip. Have we given up on evangelism? Can we honestly expect a non-Christian to stick around a site very long if the first thing they see is "Christians Only"? CF isn't a private club, it's all inclusive. Or used to be.

Not to mention, having the denominational groupings listed first above the others gives a bad impression in terms of Christian solidarity.

I'm a creature of habit, so I really don't like this change -at all-.

I don't use the front page, just my UserCP. I hate that the forums I subscribe to are out of order now. I liked having announcements first so I could see if anything new was going on, and I like having my more "fluffy" forums read first so I could then spend more time in the meatier Christian-only forums.

Bah, my routine is all thrown off now. Me no like. :(

This change does look great. If the name, "Christian Forums" hasn't turned off all the non-Christians so far, I can't see the ones who will be here for the first time will be thrown off, either. Not many seasoned non-Christian posters have impressed me as being shy or timid in any way. Whereas, I think Christians could use a little encouragement nowadays.

There have been so many changes and concessions to even atheists and anti-Christians and tolerance of their numerous challenges, demands, and criticisms that some real sign of consideration for Christians is completely suitable.

These are merely my observations, certainly not in any respect indications or assumptions of our webmaster's intentions in the changes.

Erwin, many appreciate everything you have done for the members of this great forum. I support and respect your actions.

Sincerely,

Latreia

On the one hand, you have a point.

But on the other hand. Wouldn't the name "Christian Forums" give non-Christians a clue anyway?

Well, yes, but "Christian Forums" is not the same thing as "Forums for Christians Only". If you didn't scroll down quite a ways or were unobservent, you might think that ALL the forums are only for Christians.

I don't like this. I liked it flipped the other way because I visit the All Members section more frequently and as well... It will be hard for new members to find the Support area, etc.

Although there was a catergory flip you stil have the option to lower the CO Area. Just click on the little grey bar in the top right of the main category. That's what I do :)

For those not too happy with the flip, you can actually collapse that section (CO) and basically "hide" all those forums. Look for the minus sign to the right of the header of the CO section.

I am not interesting in collapsing anything.... I didn't state that I don't post in CO, just that I post in Open more frequently.

Dear Erwin,
Thank You for the community space you are providing here.

Is it possible to display the Index-page with both sections, *side-by-side*? for
example: the Left-column showing "forums for All members", first explaining how this site works. just curious
