  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

These are the words on his tomb which seem to indicate that while he was a public face for the plutocracy he was also a liberal humanist. He certainly was when he signed California's liberal abortion law as Governor in 1967.

Words on his tomb or not, he was most certainly not for abortion:

You might find this interesting.

That does not follow because the passages are poetry, not descriptions of literal events. Try as they might, the antichoice forces cannot find a "thou shalt not have an abortion" in the Bible though they keep trying to say such things as this suffice. But they do only for those engaged in wishful thinking.

There is no sin whatsoever in abortion. Assertions otherwise remain unproven and unsupportable.

The Bible does not say Thou Shall Not put a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger either, but we no it is wrong. The passages being poetic has nothing to do with the argument, God said it so it is. As for you, "he antichoice forces cannot find a "thou shalt not have an abortion" in the Bible" here it is:
"You shall not murder." - Exodus 20:13

The pro-choice, which is an oxymoron in itself since the choice came on having sex or not, reminds me of a verse in 2 Timothy:

"They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth." - 2 Timothy 3:6-7

I will say, I am in torment when it comes abortions, in the areas of rape, incest, or harm to the mother or child.

Why am I arguing with you anyways, you do not agree with the topic of the thread, so your opinion is irrelevant. The thread was for those who agree that an abortion is a sin, and therefore are the ones I am seeking for an opinion.

Nor is anyone else.

Strawman. They did not have guns then anyway.

The passages being poetic has nothing to do with the argument, God said it so it is.

No, it is a poetical device, not a literal quote.

As for you, "he antichoice forces cannot find a "thou shalt not have an abortion" in the Bible" here it is:
"You shall not murder." - Exodus 20:13

Abortion is not murder and has never been considered such by all legal systems. Even in the brief time it was criminalized in Western Society it was never considered murder or anything other than a minor crime which was rarely prosecuted.

The pro-choice, which is an oxymoron in itself since the choice came on having sex or not

No, Sir, a woman has an absolute right to obtain an abortion. When or if she had sex is not anyone else's concern in that regard.

reminds me of a verse in 2 Timothy:

"They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth." - 2 Timothy 3:6-7

I would say that is not applicable and the attempt to claim it is so is unfortunate.

I will say, I am in torment when it comes abortions, in the areas of rape, incest, or harm to the mother or child.

The organized groups seeking to criminalize abortion are not similarly "in torment". They only concede the right to abortion in those cases due to public opinion.

Why am I arguing with you anyways, you do not agree with the topic of the thread, so your opinion is irrelevant. The thread was for those who agree that an abortion is a sin, and therefore are the ones I am seeking for an opinion.

Nevertheless I will not cease participation. Feel free to not reply to my posts if you wish.
