  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I often have thoughts of stupid or disobedient decisions I have made in the past. I repented and accepted God's forgiveness, but will I still have to give an account for those decisions when I am judged by God? Will every mistake be dredged up and displayed? Will I be reminded of every bad decision I've ever made, and sometimes still make?

Here are some verses that I do not know how to reconcile:
[bible]psalm 103:12[/bible]
[bible]matthew 12:36[/bible]
[bible]romans 14:12[/bible]
How does God forgive? Does He never mention it again, or will He bring it up later?

What is forgiveness?

We are new Creations in Christ, and Christ died for our sins (past present and future sins). This is how forgiving God is. He allowed His Son to die for innumerable sins that had not even been committed, that God knew would be committed by the elect, and God counted us justified in His presence. How wonderful God is! Praise Him!

Both forgiven and accountable! :p

At the Judgement seat of Christ will Christians have to give account for every idle word they've spoken..

At the Great White Throne Judgement will heathens have to give an account of thier deeds :o
(which, I might add, are as filthy rags.. Compared to the Righteousness of Christ)

It's really hard to say. No one knows exactly how God will act when we reach heaven. Will he brace us with open arms, or will he falter just a little bit and ask us about our past? I say it will be a little bit of both. God loves us no matter what our sins and that's the most consoling thought ever.

When God looks on Christians (and yes, Jesus is God-lol) He doesn't see any sin in our lives..The sin might be surrounding our lives, so that we cannot but see sin like poor Lot, but He never see's sin in us! :)

He says, as far as the east from the west, so far have I removed they transgression from thee, and this is OT.. Just think now that the New Covanant is here!

If we trust in Jesus, His sacrifice on the cross as payment for our sins, we are forgiven. And continue to learn more of the Savior and get to know your Savior. and sin no more (need Jesus for that)

We also want to do as best we can, to right our wrongs against people we have also offended. Being as wise as serpents, innocent as doves like Jesus says. He says if we have wronged anyone, before we offer gifts to God, go to that person and try to make peace. Not everyone will accept you, and will forgive you, but you should do as much as you can to right wrongs. For example, if you have stolen, return them. If you have been nasty to family members, tell them you are sorry. God will give you wisdom and help in these things, and continue in New Testament. Jesus talks about these kind of things.

I agree with the above, especially rocklife. But for my opinion, it depends what you mean by forgiveness. I think it means knowing you did something wrong, asking for forgiveness, and receiving it. Whomever you transgressed against will always know what you did, but what forgiveness means is that they don't care, they look past or through it. Someone asked me once, "If Christ died for all of your sins on the cross, then what will you be judged on on Judgement Day?" I wasnt sure how to respond but I got an idea after discussing it. I think if you have been a faithful Christian, have repented and been baptised, then you will be forgiven of the sins but will still account for them. It's kind of like "I lve you despite everything you've done wrong." Thats the beauty of Christ's love: we aren't perfect, we cant live without him, and He doesn't care. If we ask for it, He will forgive us.
God bless,
J
