Hi folks!

I have a question for those who have already purchased a copy of the new ESV Reformation Study Bible: what is the format of the verses? By that I mean what is the style in which the verses are printed? I own a copy of the NKJV Reformation Study Bible and the verses are more in paragraph style in comparison to the regular layout of most bibles. I was just wondering if they changed the page layout or kept it the same as in the NKJV of the Reformation Study Bible.

I hope I posed my question clearly, if not please ask me to clarify. I wasn't too fond of the paragraph page layout of the NKJV Reformation Study Bible and so I was hoping they changed it to the more traditional page layout for the ESV study bible.

God Bless,

Justin

My copy is now here, so I'll try to answer your question. I looked on Amazon to see if I could find a sample page of either edition, but I couldn't -- they only had the helps, not the text. Anyway, the text of this one looks like every other ESV I've seen, which is the way that I believe most Bibles are laid out with the exception of the NASB and the KJV (I think). The text in my Bible is in paragraphs, except for the poetry. I believe the paragraph divisions are something that the translation team did, not the editors of this particular study Bible. Whereas, say, the NASB will have a new line for each verse, the ESV and other translations will group logical units together in paragraphs and sections. The page looks like a standard two-column page to me, and the helps look excellent, although I haven't had a chance to delve into it too deeply yet.

For those who were interested in a comparison between the SotR and this one, I'd be happy to let you know my opinions when I can... I couldn't decide between the two, so I splurged and bought both. Happy Easter to me! :D So when the other one arrives and I've had a chance to get into them, I'll post my observations for those who are slighlty more restrained Bible-shoppers than I am. :sorry:

...ok... this is another ESV Bible, and the text part of it looks the same as mine. I hope that helps.

Hi Macrina!

This is great news! The NKJV Reformation Study bible didn't have the standard two-column text so I was hoping the ESV Reformation Study bible would. So I am glad to hear this.

I ordered the leather edition of the ESV Reformation Study Bible and it shipped earlier this week so I should get it soon!

Thanks for your help

I just got it, and also have the NIV. I'm pleased that the notes are not the same, actually. The ESV is 2-column while the NIV is 1-column, which I actually find to be easier on my eyes. It's a great Bible!

Funny, I prefer the two-column.

By the way, not all NASB Bibles are verse format. There are a few in paragraph format. If you search the catalog at www.lockman.org it will indicate which is which.

Great -- I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. :)
