When I study the Bible, I'm looking to learn who he is. Only when you understand him correctly can you apply it right. B/c your heart has the right affection. It's all a heart problem.
That's interesting how you put that, because that reminds me of what Paul says in Hebrews 4:
7 again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said,
To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts.12 For the
word of God is quick, and
powerful, and sharper than any
twoedged sword,
piercing even to the
dividing asunder of
soul and spirit, and of the
joints and marrow, and is a
discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Let's us go to James 1: 19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be
swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 20 for the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. 21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be ye
doers of the word, and
not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
It's good to study the Bible, the word of God, but you also have to be taught. The book say in Ecclesiastes 12: 9 And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs. 10 The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth. 11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from
one shepherd.
