I just had to share a great deal I managed to score recently. Because as Jimeoin wisely postulated, it's not a bargain until you tell someone about it.
I wear glasses and my old glasses were getting pretty worn. I got my eyes tested at my normal optometrist, but there was no change in my perscription, so no necessity for me to get new ones. I wanted to get new ones but it just costs so much! But then I saw a thing on Today Tonight about www.glassesonline.com.au and how they can get you cheap glasses...so I did it and managed to get two good pairs of perscription glasses for a total cost to me of....$25!!
Ok, so it was so totally ridiculously cheap because I have private health insurance. But even without that, the total cost was $180 - for two pairs of glasses, that's still fantastic. Apparently they can do this cheaply because it's an online store and they don't have to cover all the associated costs of optometry equipment like your local optometrist does. You just give them your perscription (which you can get written down for you when you just ask at your normal optometrist), choose your frames from their range (prices start at $65, I got two $85 pairs plus $10 shipping) and they ship them out to you in about 3 weeks. Pretty cool.
The only downside is not being able to try them on before buying them. But I suppose you can go and try on similar pairs at your optometrist if you wanna see what they look like on you. But for $25 I didn't mind too much! I'm so wrapt with mine.
Hope this helps someone!
