Its not a realistic expectation that somebody who is morbidly obese will somehow switch to heavy lifting. Most of them have problems to even walk properly. After short time he will give up and will gain even more. Its not sustainable.

Maybe one in thousand did it, having exceptionally strong will and having luck on people around him, but its not for the common obese folk.

Exercise helps, but obese people are told "exercise, exercise", even though its not the basis. There are millions of slim people who do not exercise at all. Its not even in the top 5 first things...

That is very true. With Physical therapy I got up to walking for 2 minutes (which I'm proud of. When I started I could barely walk for 30 seconds). Eventually they want to get me to the point where I can walk without my cane. It's an ever increasing goal.

The only skinny people that I know exercise and the only people I know that are 300 pounds plus are body builders. Exercise is important to weight loss but so is reducing my chaloric intake. If I get down to 3,000 calories I should lose 2 pounds a week with a moderate activity level. It's just to get there now. Everytime I get a food craving I try to eat some fruit. Id rather eat a piece of fruit than eat a 300+ calorie snack. I mean, really.

Rejoice.. for your GOD.. has over come the world. Rejoice KNOW that there is nothing He cannot do. Know He has heard you. No know He heard you and is already working on the answer before you ever asked. We just say sorry repent for when we doubted .. keep going. If two shall agree.. we agree in JESUS name you will lose weight. Also know this... there is nothing that has the right to control you. Oh it may seem it does but.... know look for that place where He made a way out. Every time you take it.. it gets better and better..KNOW your not alone in this.. Hes cried every tear with you..

Well put I didn't think of it that way. Passing the 400 lb mark did wake me up more and try to rely on Jesus more. Only he can free me from my addiction. I've had the addiction since i was like 9 years old (I'm 36 now)

who does the grocery shopping?

it starts there....if lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, onions, eggs, etc are in your fridge, you can eat salads with a couple eggs thrown in

I was a stress eater from age of 13 due to chaotic childhood...in 2019, I went down to two meals/day for a whole year

after that year, I was cured of the stress eating!!
went back to 3 meals/day & continued to lose weight cause now used to eating less

I eat salads with romaine lettuce, onions, tomatoes, couple eggs & eat a sandwich of thin baby swiss, onion, tomato
the crunch of the onions satisfies my need for crunch

I went cold turkey on tortilla chips & can no longer eat them/tried them one day & they made me sick

for three years I lost weight & I'm now normal weight

My wife does the grocery shopping im too out of shape to go into stores but ive been working on that. I'm not supposed to have lettuce or spinach because I'm on blood thinners right now and might be for the rest if my life (I'll find that out next week) It's been hard because I do enjoy fresh spinach literally everywhere and I've been unable to eat spinach like I want to for the last 6 months now. It's hard. But like I said I do enjoy fruits and fruits don't have a lot of vitamin k in them (its vitamin k you're supposed to avoid with blood thinners). So I'm on a pretty fruit heavy diet right now since all if not most of the vegetables that i like are out.

Heavy lifting is not required. Diet is the most important thing but all the experts will tell you to exercise too, even if it's just walking. I saw one obese person who hired a personal trainer and he just had him stand up and sit back down. He repeated that until he had him doing ten bodyweight squats and worked from there. I'm not suggesting an obese person is suddenly going to become a bodybuilder. What advice do you have for the person who posted the OP?

I hit over 400 pounds. Last weighin I did I weighed about 415 pounds... I've been praying nonstop for a solution to this and I just keep eating instead. I'm so addicted to food now that I eat over 4,000 calories in a day. What I wouldn't give to eat 3,000 calories again. But it is so hard to stop eating. The temptation to eat is greater than I care bare. The cravings are massive. Aside from the prayers of others I don't know what can help me. I need God and God isn't removing this sin from me. It's impossible, help.

I am praying for you.

what you eat can also affect how much you "feel" like eating. For example try eating nothing but salad and peanut butter + apple sauce toast, and oatmeal for one whole day and see how much you "feel like eating" at the end of that day and all during the day. (don't eat desserts/sweets while trying to lose weight)

When you eat can affect how much of that food goes to fat.

Try to get to one high fat meal a day (preferably around noon). with Breakfast and supper being low fat meals -- as light as you can stand it.

Drink tons of water. 10-12 cups a day if you can. Drink two cups of water before you allow yourself to eat breakfast.

Weigh yourself first thing in the morning before you eat or drink anything. Do that every day. Because a 1 pound victory will be very encouraging.

looks like you could have salads if you eat iceberg lettuce:

Healthfully

"Iceberg lettuce is known for its crispiness, though it is low on flavor and nutrients, according to the Cook’s Thesaurus 3. In terms of vitamin K, iceberg has the lowest amount among the different types of lettuce. The USDA Nutrient Database shows that a 1-cup serving of iceberg lettuce contains only 17.4 micrograms of vitamin K. Iceberg lettuce also contains 215 micrograms of beta-carotene and 361 IU of vitamin A 2."

I have prayed for you. Please pray about fasting and prayer. You might begin by walking as much as possible staying in prayer. Get away from all media and seek. God’s Will be done.

Fruit is not good, because its basically just water and fructose. Its a signal for our body that winter is coming and the body should store more fat to prepare for the winter hunger.

Better than a processed sugar food or soda, but not by much. It actually adds to your problem.

Be sure to watch the video in post #13, to understand the problem.

Honestly? My doctor said that if fruit reduces my cravings it's better to eat a 50 calorie peach than 400 calories of a different snack that's loaded in salt and God knows what else. My wife isn't the greatest cook. A lot of what she cooks is loaded in salt of sugar so lowering my caloric intake is my best bet. I don't mind bring 400 pounds I just don't want to get any bigger. I've been over 200 lbs since I was a teenager so I don't remember or know the difference.

As long as I'm walking and exercising healthily and I watch my cholesterol and blood pressure I should live a long and happy life.

That's a good idea we are going grocery shopping this morning and I will get some iceberg lettuce. It's not quite spinach but it will do. Hopefully I'll only be on blood thinners another month anyway. Idk my hemotologist might keep me on them if I'm going to be morbidly obese like this for the rest of my life. Idk, we will see what God has in store for the future.

You do not need to be a great cook to eat healthy or to eat less. The less processed food, the better. No complicated cooking needed.

Most of vegetables can be eaten raw or just cooked in water. Lean meat - just water with salt and with some vegetables. Fermented dairy - no cooking. Etc.

Body is much more complex system than just cholesterol and blood pressure, though.

No but they eliminate life's worst killers. Heart attack and stroke. I honestly just would like to see my 60s. I should be able to with a few modifications.
