  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Tonight was really really special. My father asked if he could say the blessing at dinner tonight and he's never done that before. My husband and I were thrilled!

He seemed to struggle for words, but I realized he was struggling to keep his composure as he thanked God for bringing us together and asked Him to please bring his grandchild safely and quickly to us.

When we opened our eyes, there were tears in his eyes. My big tough dad, eh? It was a beautiful gift that I will cherish forever.

My mother, who can sometimes be quite negative, was amazing tonight. She was sweet and thoughtful and I was proud to be her girl.

These past few days that my husband Lloyd and I have spent with my mom and dad have been incredible. I truly feel now, that God has been giving us this time to become closer to each other and I am beyond grateful for this gift.

I thank you all for your prayers sisters.

How wonderful! I can only imagine, I'm sure it was a great blessing. I love that these new little lives (even before they are born) are able to draw others nearer to God. Praise Him!

Thanks for keeping us posted here! It's great to know how you are doign!

Aww, I know. :hug:I was a week and one day late when I was induced with Natalie. I didn't really want to induce, but the waiting is SO hard. Wish I was there to help you pass the time. That's one thing I really remember from that last week before Natalie was born - friends not really being around until after she was born (because of course they want to see the baby!), but by then I just wanted to be left alone to bond with baby and rest, and it would have been nice to have someone around beforehand to keep me occupied.

Thanks Katelyn.

I've had the opposite problem- people calling me and "bugging" me and I want to be left alone right now for the most part. My best friend took me to the doc today and this is what's going on:

In my exam I was not dilated at all. One centimeter does not count. I am 5 days overdue now.

We're going to induce on Monday at 8:00 a.m. Pacific time - or at least we're going to begin the induction process then. We're not using pitocin or oxtocin, we're using gel and the doc said it will ripen the cervix and help begin contractions. He said the pre-labour could be quite painful and could even last 2-3 days. MAN! I will be staying in the hospital from then on because I live an hour away from it and doc doesn't want to take any chances.

IF I don't deliver this weekend. Which is sounding pretty enticing right now.

From what I understand it's pretty common to go to 41 weeks with a 1st pregnancy. I do hope though, that your labor starts this weekend and instead of inducing monday morning, you'll have your little bundle in your arms.

How's daddy holding up through all of this? Poor guy, hope he's not too stressed out, now or during delivery!

Prayers for the 3 of you!!

If you're only 5 days "late" then you're still early cos like someone else said the average first pregnancy is 41 weeks and 1 day. I know the waiting is tough though. Why does 1 cm not count? It all counts! I was only 0.5 cm dilated 2 days before I went into labor so don't discount being at 1 cm already.

Oh, well.... that's not really that late, and without any really good medical reason induction is not good for mom or baby. Why not just wait until the baby is ready? Do you know when you ovulated on the month you got pregnant? I ovulated 5 days later than "average" so my due date is going to be off... I am likely to be very late, but really I will be just on time. Of course I am just guessing as I had my first baby early, and I may have ovulated late that month too. Your body and your baby know the right time to be born and I wouldn't let them induce you.

Being dialated or not doesn't matter at all. You can be 3 centimeters dialated for a week or more, or you can not be dialated at all and have the baby the next day.

My OB will make my official due date whatever I tell him it is.... ask them to figure you're due date from the date of conception rather than LMP...

But then if I am right and I ovulated late with David (I wasn't keeping track, but I have a good idea about the date of conception), he was born on 8/27 but his due date was 9/7 which as I just counted was 11 days early. If I move the due date forward I might have this baby at 37 weeks which might make them unnecessarily freak out. I'd rather wait and if I look like I will go "late", say something then.

Ah ...yes I see! I go by ovulation...because my cycles are way short... it made a difference of nearly a week. I asked them to do a sonogram ( I needed the peace of mind of knowing for sure that there was only one baby)...and had him check dates (a sonogram is most accurate a dating a pregnancy early on). His gestational age and mine were identical.

My problems are the other way...that the baby might be actually 38 weeks and seem to be 37. Which becomes problematic - since I don't do group B strep testing and they want to give me and the baby antibiotics (not my OB, but the hospital staff), which I want to avoid if there is no clear reason for them. I see how you would want to err the other way!

Well, here's the thing. There is a medical reason. I have gestational diabetes as it is so they don't want me carrying for too long or a C section becomes more and more likely.
And ladies, you may not have noticed, but I ain't no spring chicken.

I'm 6 days now and it's not happening today I can tell ya! I went swimming today! It is SOOOOOO hot here it is awful!

I saw on the calendar that Sunday is "parents day" so maybe it'll happen then!

gosh i remember doing that...we had sex all the time to try and get some contractions going on....we also tried riding on a bumpy road, which worked, but they weren't regular and would stop after a little while...maybe you could sit on a dryer or if you get really desperate, you could drink caster oil...everyone that i know that's done it says it was just the thing they needed.
