Everyone misses home for their first few... days, months, years, who knows.

But as you start completing your undergraduate, you'll start having a new home.

And perhaps a day will come when there exists a subtle tension between you and your parents.

Well, at least for me, when I visit home, there is tension between me and my father. Nothing big, but a natural sort of "OK. I'm leeching. But i'm still your son."

Any way, when I visit, i feel like I don't belong. Cuz I don't.

:) Thanks for the comments y'all.
I moved from NZ to Melbourne a month ago and I've hardly missed home at all -only once when I was very sick, I missed my cat :p
I love it here, a couple of people in my dorm are really home sick/ I haven't really thought about home much

During my university years, I lived at home since my university was in my hometown, but for a semester I went on a student exchange in Sweden. During that trip, there were some times when I missed home, but that was mostly because a few of the other exchange students in my group were giving me a hard time for being a devout Catholic. I felt lonely because I was the only person in the exchange student group who was from outside Europe, and one of the few devout Christians. But I still enjoyed my time there and I have a lot of great memories from it.

I go to school about 215 miles away from home, or about 3 1/2 hours. I have always wanted to move away from home. My home life has never been the best. I miss my friends sometimes, and my family... but Springfield is home now. My professional job is here and my apartment and all my friends.

If your staying in a dorm, university college, flat, etc, etc away from home, I have a question for you...

Do you miss home?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. mostly i miss having my family right there so i dont feel alone - but at the same time i like to be able to be by myself sometimes - i dont even have a room of my own at my house so when im at college i like having a room and time alone. I was blessed in the past with awesome roomates but now in grad school we get rooms to ourselves, which is pretty cool.

Rarely do I get homesick. I have so many friends and "family" here that it just isn't a huge issue for me to want to go home. When I'm in my hometown, I call my dorms "home" when I'm talking about going back to school. And vice-versa when I'm here at school.

I have a difficult relationship with my parents so I don't have a huge miss of my home, but every now and then I miss home and I miss my parents. Its easier to honor them if we arn't fighting and we don't fight when i'm at school.
But college is only 45 minutes away from my college so its not that bad.

My college is 90 minutes away from my home, but occassionally I do miss being at home. I usually miss stuff like my parents cooking, my sisters, and not having to do my own laundry. I have really cool friends here at my college and we have a really strong Christian community here, so alot of the time I feel right at home at my college.

My University is only about 35 miles away from home, and I live on campus, and I definitely do not miss being home. I love it here with friends and....well, friends lol. Going home is actually more lonely even with my family there because I don't hang out with any of my high school friends. But here, there's always a friend to talk to.

My home is in KS, but I go to school in VA. I love my parents to death, but this is definitely that time of seperation for me to make it on my own. It's nice to go back to visit for holidays, but I could never live there again...
