Ok, I just posted in another thread about this and I think it deserves its own topic to clear this mess up.

I am getting really tired of coming on to these boards to discuss certain things and only seeing people trashing each others beliefs. Let me ask this to anyone who thinks that Secular music is horrid and shouldn't be listened to... Apart from your apparent argument which you hold no backing to, why are you even bothering to come into the secular forum? Just to argue? Is that Christ-like? To come in here just to argue with people who happen to like secular music? You think you are saving people from eternal hell by arguing with us? It's just angering people.

My point is, if you want to whine about how we aren't being Christ-like because we listen to music that doesn't have the words "praise you Jesus" in it, then you are a hypocrite because you are just coming into the secular forums just to argue with people. This part of the forum is made for people who happen to like secular music. If you don't like that, no one says you HAVE to come here. you can state your opinions in the Xian Music forums just as easily instead of stirring up trouble in this one. I am so sick of coming on to these boards and seeing this section filled with debating people when others want to talk about music itself. Again, if you don't want to talk about secular music (not whether it's good or evil), then don't waste other peoples time coming here and posting that trash.

And is it not also a sin to temp people into anger? Think about that next time you want to walk into the lions den with a slab of raw meat. You are going to do nothing but make people mad by posting against what people are here to talk about.

Let the flaming begin...

I do agree, although now I'm a little afraid that some of my questions (that I think are legitimately directed at Christians who listen to secular music and NO Christian music) will be lumped in with the trolls.

For instance, what good would it do me to ask "why don't you like Christian music," in the CCM forum?

I didn't know where to post this...
And I didn't want to start a new thread, because that will only give those people another thing to argue about.
Just wanted to agree with the one who started this thread...

But what's up with all the negativity in the Secular forum lately?

If you don't like it, listen to something else.
If you think it's evil, then don't listen to it. But you don't have to make yourselves feel holier by putting us down. heh...It's as if people actually believe they're better than us just because they listen to the "right stuff". Whatever...

This music forum was made for US, and we like OUR music, and if you don't like it, you can just get over it.

sheesh...

Why would I feel concerned if someone was listening to secular music? If they're going down the road blazing music with curse words, words glorifying a "loose" lifestyle, etc. I'm concerned because I've seen firsthand what it leads to.

"Us," "our," my," "I" are all words that are "me-centric," that is, "Well I like this music," "I want to listen to it," or "I want to watch Southpark[/B]

Do I even need to comment on the horrid ramifications of watching and endorsing Southpark, or endorsing Rob Zombie, or Manson, or KISS, Nirvana, Greenday, Bush, Madonna, Brittney Spears, Justin Timberlake, etc?

I'm trying to figure out what South Park has to do with music, but um ok.

I could say I watched I Love Lucy yesterday, what's your point?

It's not the musics fault, because of what some people do that listen to it. That's like saying it's a guns fault somebody died because it was used to kill. Guns have good and bad uses, just like music.

okay, well i guess i'm a me-ccentric person. i mean...since that's what you say. sure.

oh and by the way, secular music is one of the things that gave me hope again. if you really think certain things are outside of God's hand as a mean to help people...hm...well I guess you have a limited view of what God can do.

I wasn't asking if you thought it was right, I was saying that if you have a problem with it, don't come and flame people because they might have a different opinion than we do and calling them wrong to their face just stirring up trouble. If you don't like it, keep to the Xian music boards and let us talk about what we like here. I hate having to argue and justify what I like every 10 minutes to some dead beat Xian who thinks the only thing good is something that says "We love God"

I know your concern preacherfergy, the Christians of today more "me-centric" than any other generation, everythings about what they want. why can't they be more righteous like you or me? why do they have to be so rebellious against the teachings of the Bible? They seem to have an excuse for everything, mostly the music they listen to. I give up. :sigh:

{end sarcasm}

C'mon folks i don't take PF seriously anymore. he isn't being sincere, he's just teasing :p

Yeah, and all secular music's like that, huh? I love your narrow-mindedness.

I'd much rather listen to a song about the Troubles in Northern Ireland or the evils of consumerism/materialism than some empty song being sold to people on the sheer reason it mentions God a few times.

Ok, you can take your "cussing" band who people think are Christians  and listen to what you won't, not bother with discernment, and just listen to what you want to do and leave God out of the equation. It's a free country, you can do that, but in that Day, don't say I didn't tell you to you stop listening to that Spirit quenching music :(

I knew you'd eventually resort to the "We'll see who's right on judgment day" line. That's just sad :(
