  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Lunch meats. I remember reading somewhere that you shouldn't eat lunch meats because the can carry a deadly bacteria. Your best bet though would be to talk to your health care provider :)

Obviously, avoid alcohol and tobacco, and check with doctor before taking even over the counter medicines. (Tylenol is ok, but aspirin, Advil, and Aleve are not. They thin the blood and can affect baby's development.)

With cheeses, read the package. Avoid unpasteurized milk products. If it's pasteurized, it should be all right.

With my last pregnancy I was told to limit tuna and most other fish because of mercury, but now the medical establishment has decided that the benefits outweigh the risks. Salmon is a low mercury fish, though, so you don't have to limit it. Shark and albacore tuna are high, but pink tuna is lower.

Refrigerated lunch meats (like the sandwich meats in your fridge) are fine. The caution about deli meats applies to places where meats may be left out for long periods of time like at a submarine sandwich shop. Hot sandwiches should be fine, as the heating kills lysteria.

If you have blood sugar issues or if you are at risk for them, you will want to keep your sweets to a minimum. Also, potatoes can spike blood sugar!

I can't think of anything else at the moment. And of course, listen to your doctor. Congratulations. :)

Congratulations angelsgirl! Good luck with everything.

Here is a link to the information I used when I was pregnant (it's from a state government in Australia) which pretty much covers everything you need to know.

Don't take Ibuprofen because it *can* cause miscarriage. Paracetamol is ok.

Have extra serves of dairy products because you will need them.

Remember that baby gets first dibs on everything now, so make sure you eat really well and get plenty of nutrients, or you'll feel flat. Lots of fresh food.

If you're getting morning sickness, dry ginger ale or ginger tea (just put a couple of pieces of grated ginger in your tea - and don't add milk!) is really good for making your stomach settle.

Any questions, PM me. I love giving advice!!!

Also... on the yogurt thing... make sure it's regular yogurt, not the light. Light yogurt is flavored with aspartame, which may be harmful. Studies are a bit inconclusive, but no sense in taking a chance.
Avoid chocolate (white chocolate is ok), coffee, soda (ginger ale once in a while is ok for upset stomach... I lived off it for a while in my 6th and 7th week), tuna only once a week (you can get your protein in much better and safer dosages by eating chicken, turkey, eggs, etc), white bread, high salt/sugar/fatty foods (competely empty nutrients for baby).
That's all my nutritionist told me. Just try to eat a variety of foods, and keep them as fresh as possible. Lots and lots of fruits and vegetables. Eat a lot of fruit to make up for fluids if you have trouble digesting liquids right now (one of my big problems). Hope this helps.
Love and blessings!
