  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

At first I was starving all the time and I am hungry now but once I think about or begin eating I have no appetite. At breakfast, lunch, and dinner I know I need to eat but I can't really decide what I feel like because nothing sounds good. Can anyone relate?

I so hear you! My doctor wants me to eat around 3,000 calories a day in 6 smaller meals. It's very difficult because I'm not hungry that often. Most of the time I'm eating because I know I should, not because I want to or am hungry. Everything tastes equally bland.

I don't have any advice but we're in the same boat.

Singin4Him, I wouldn't worry about it.... you only need an additional 300 calories a day. You will need to eat more often, but its not like you have to eat tons of food. I just listened to my body and ate when I was hungry and didn't when I wasn't-- your body tells you how many calories you need. You should never force food down.

3000 calories a day??? Why so much?

I hear you on the food thing though it has gotten a lot better in the second trimester.

I'm 5'7 at 13 weeks pregnant I was 117lbs. I'd gained at least 7, more like 10 since getting pregnant. I'm now 16 weeks and around 124lbs. He keeps reminding me, that "it's perfectly normal to gain up to fifty lbs when pregnant," just like I keep reminding him that I eat well, wide varity of whole grains, protein, fruits and veggies so I know my baby is getting "enough".

Basically few doctors are willing to except my body likes being this way and I'm probably healthier than most, even if "underweight".

I didn't eat 3,000 yesterday and probably won't today...I can't do it unless I have junk food with lots of empty calories.

Wow, 50lbs?!
When I passed 40 lbs with my first the doctors kept reprimanding me about how much weight I gained. I was active and eating healthy but my body metabolism virutually shut off while I was pregnant.

I had a hard time eating with my second child. The doctor (different dr. than above) told me to just add an extra snack or two but keep eating the way I would normally.

All prenatals are known to do that-- make sure you take it on a full stomach, and better in the morning than in the evening.
LOL I've always heard the complete opposite - to take the vitamin at night instead of the morning :D

I hated the prescription prenatals - they were big and tasted bad. Now I use the One Source one's from Wal Mart, they are two small pills and don't have the icky vitamin taste. Much nicer to take. I've also heard it's better to take them at night because our bodies can only absorb so much of a vitamin so it's better to get the natural sources of vitamins through out the day in your food then "top up" with the prenatal at night as it's synthetic. I really think though that the important thing is that the vitamin gets taken at some point through out the day rather than when it's taken, so whatever works best for each person.

I don't have a good appetite at the moment and sleep my day away. I'm so fatigued with this baby I swear I'm part polar bear. I didn't sleep this much with my daughter so I wonder if I get enough nutrition other than my prenatal and Boost which I get down first thing in the morning. I'm at the everything looks horrible phase but only after I've got in on my plate and take a bite. Wasting more food than I did when I was 6.
